Finally

SHAILENE'S POV

The next morning I awoke to the sound of my phone ringing. I picked it up off of my night stand and brought it to my ear.
"Shai?" It was my mom.
"Mom? What's wrong? Is it grandma?"
"Shai," I could hear my mom take a deep breath as she held down a sob. I could tell that bad news was coming. "Your grandma, she didn't make it."
I pulled the phone away from my ear and hung up. At first I was in so much shock I didn't know how to react. I went to the kitchen to make myself a cup of herbal tea to try and soothe me. But after a couple of minutes, the news finally settled in and I started to bawl my eyes out.

THEO'S POV

I woke up in Shai's room and smiled remembering the previous night with ash silence. She is just so perfect and beautiful. I think I'm falling in love with her. Suddenly, I heard whimpering coming from the kitchen and immediately thought of Shai and the situation with her grandmother. I ran to the kitchen and found Shailene with her head in her hands, crying. I went up to her and started to rub her back. She lifted her head up and even with tears running down her eyes, I thought she looked perfect.
"Oh, Theo. I'm so sorry that you had to see my like this."
"Shai, you absolutely have no reason to apologize to me. Is it your grandma?"
She immediately started to cry again and I got the answer to my question. I continued to rub her back and pressed a kiss to her head.
"I'm here for you, Shai, I always have been. You don't have to talk about it if you don't want to, but I want you to know that I'll be here to listen."
She stopped crying and wiped the tears from her eyes. We locked eyes for a couple of seconds.
"I really want to kiss you right now" I whispered under my breath. My eyes widened when I realized I said that out loud. Shailene looked in my eyes and the next thing I knew her lips were on mine. I immediately kissed her back and cupped her cheek. After a few seconds, she pulled away and connected our foreheads. I smiled at her and was relieved when I saw a small smile played across Shai's lips.
"Wow." Shai gasped out.
"Me too." I laughed out. "I've been wanting to do that since the first time I saw you."
"Same."
We both looked in each other's eyes and smiled at each other. 
I pushed a piece of hair out of her face.
"You okay, Shai?" I raised my eyebrow with a concerned look on my face. "Do you wanna talk about it?"
Shai took a deep breath in and sighed.
"My grandma died."
I waited for her to continue, not want to rush or force her into talking.
"She was the nicest person I ever knew. She was always knew what to say when I was sad and always comforted me. I loved her so much." Shai took a deep breath in before continuing, "I just can't believe she's gone."
After that revelation, I continued to rub her back. I placed a kiss on her head before embracing her in a hug.
"I'll be there for you." I whispered into her hair. She looked up and in a raspy voice, she whispered, "What?"
I repeated, "I'll be there for you. I'll be the person that's always there for you when you're sad and who will always comfort you. And I'll love you with all my heart." I paused to watch her reaction before I continued. "I'm think I'm falling in love with you, Shailene Woodley."
For a few moments the apartment was silent and I was starting to regret my confession. I was about to pull out of the embrace until she spoke up, "I think I'm falling in love with you too." It was barely above a whisper, but it was all I needed to pull her into another passionate kiss. She pulled away and murmured against my lips, "Thank you, Theodore. Thank you for everything." I just nodded and replied, "Like I said, 'I'll always be therefore you.'" She pulled me into another kiss and she smiled into it. It wasn't long before I started to laugh into the kiss too.
"You're finally mine." I laughed into the kiss.
Our foreheads rested against each other as she whispered, "Finally."
