The Great Escape

As planned, I met Kimura at her shrine. Shrines were the gods' bedrooms, communication devices to the humans, transportation, and basically everything else you could expect a spy HQ to have. I had convinced Jet to go to bed early so I would have more time. I had a white shirt and gray jacket, as well as some black cargo shorts. They were the only things I saved from the fire. I knocked on the shrine. "Kimura? Are you ready for this? I can come back another-"
Boom!
Kimura emerged with a weapon in her hands. She explained the sudden foreign weaponry when she saw me. "It's dangerous to go alone!" She said. "Take this." She thrust the sheath of the weapon into my hands. "I made you a sword. Its name is Zephyr, and you'd better take care of it!" She said.
     "Um...Alrighty. How do I use a sword?"
She seemed exasperated at my question, as if the answer was really obvious. Though if it was, it completely flew over my head. She started to explain but stopped herself. "No, no. You'll figure it out in due time. Follow me."
We passed the darkened streets of the Eternal Kingdom lost in thought. I could get in real trouble for this if anyone but Kimura found out, but I couldn't believe these humans were actually monsters. I had to see for myself, or I would forever kick myself for missing this.
               Whatever this is.
We approached the boundless skyline and peeked out. The clouds obstructed my view, the occasional lightning bolt my only source of light. Thunder roared and wind howled, making a simple summer storm sound like a terrible monster. "Well," Kimura said, turning. "This is your stop. We're right above the human settlement of Hima." I was left hesitating, hoping for more instructions. "Go ahead. Jump!" I looked at her as if she had gone insane. I wasn't jumping. I never had a fear of heights (though, in retrospect, that could've stopped this predicament from happening) but I definitely had a fear of jumping off of high clouds into thunderstorms in the middle of the night with no idea what lay below. That was my problem. "Kaze. You have powers that all humans envy. You can handle this. Besides!" She said. "You won't take much fall damage! Much..."
"Sure! That's very reassuring! Thanks!" I said, making it clear to her that I disapproved of this idea.
"Know what? If you're gonna mouth off, I'll just...!"
     "WAIT! WHAT ARE YOU--?!"
She shoved me off the clouds.... I was mid-sentence, and she shoved me into the black, uncertain abyss that was my future. Well, at least I survived the black abyss. Most of the time. For the moment though, I wasn't sure I would. I tumbled down through the clouds, lightning momentarily brightening up the chaos that stretched before me. Flimsy straw huts and pieces of rubble, broke apart and flew by me in the loud, dark, windy insanity. Before I could react, something smacked me in the back of the head and my vision went black.
I flew into a void, scared for my life. Voices all around me echoed the fears that I had hidden away. 'This must be the back of my mind' I thought. 'Fears that I can't address reside here.'
"What if Jet finds out I escaped? What if I fail and end the human race altogether? What if I die here? Maybe I got too cocky. I can't do this." The voices echoed from the inky blackness. I almost lost it, thinking that the voices were right. But then something appeared. Dots like stars lit up the corners of my vision before moving to create a cluster of tiny lights. They assembled in front of me and created a girl. She had rainbow eyes that always changed and flickered with the lights. Her long white hair faded to pink at her lower back. She wore a long, gossamer thin dress. It was almost see through! "Who are you?" I asked, the voices fading away.
She smiled flirtatiously and lounged in an invisible throne of air. "I am Gossamer. Guardian of Dreams. Though I'm not born yet, I guess I have to help you until I am. Shouldn't be too hard, really. That's all I know for certain right now, though more will, I hope, become apparent as the time draws nearer. Until next dream, see ya, partner. And good luck!" Almost immediately afterward, I jerked awake.
