"S-sorry, I'm new here. I'm Cesare." I said politely, stuttering slightly. He had a devilish grin on his face, but it was more like a half lopsided smile, but on him, it was perfect. "Bună ziua, my name is Darius."
"Darius..." I breathed, flustered. I looked down, and smiled a little.
"You are new, correct? May I see your schedule, I would be happy to escort you to your professors," he said, giving me a small bow. I blushed and handed it to him, but not before I dropped it once... Or twice...He laughed, his voice gravelly, and his accent showing. I think he was Romanian. He was HOT. I walked with him when he turned and walked towards another corridor.
He stood by the door, and when I reached him, he followed me in. I guess he was in this class?
The teacher nodded to both of us, her sight lingering on me, knowing I was new. I chose a seat towards the middle of the classroom, but clinging to the wall nearest to the door.
What surprised me most was that Darius never sat down, he just stood near me, leaning up against the wall. I shifted in my seat and began taking a few notes on the lesson.
He did that for the next few classes, including lunch. He just lingered around me, and glared at anyone who stared for too long.
"Um, not to be rude, but don't you have classes you should be attending?" I asked quietly, for once.
"No. I am 19, I am here for a different reason.""Oh, so you're an intern?" I asked, a little less confused.
"No." He ended it there. He gave me a smile, it was a genuine, happy to see you smile.
We continued the day like that, going from class to class.
At the end of the day, he walked me to Leo's car, and when the door opened, Darius looked in and said, "I am his own." And then walked away, leaving me confused.
"How was school?" Leo asked.
"What's an 'own'" I asked, wondering why he hasn't explained the odd behavior, as he was good at doing that when I was confused.
He laughed deeply, and then said, "There's no such thing as an Own, that boy was your Auen, your protector. What's his name?"
"Darius..." I whisper, his name dancing elegantly across my lips. Oh, how is hair fell on his shoulders, and his jeans hugged his body. He was perfect.
We drove home, and my dad greeted me.
"Hello, son, did you have a good day?" I shrugged.
"Did you make any friends?"
I nodded."Were people nice?" I paused.
"Nobody talked to me. Only Darius, my A-something. Leo will tell you."
I walked down the hall to my room, which was located in a finished basement. I grabbed another Monster from the fridge, and sat on the futon under my loft bed,
watching whatever was on the tv.After a few hours of homework and goofing off, I got a text from Leo telling my it was time for dinner. And from the smell, it was my favorite, Mac and cheese!
"So, Leo told me you got your Auen today. Darius? He's your protector. As long as you are alive and well, or until he isn't needed, he will guard you and care for you. It's something that not many Mafia family successors get. His family, the Arcs, are friends of ours." He said, while trying WAYYY to hard to get a bit of macaroni onto his fork, eventually giving up and switching to a spoon.
Great, a bodyguard.
At least I'll be seeing more of Darius...
