Chapter 13

Dad let me sleep in Friday and Saturday. All day Friday I was at the music store and didn't see that boy again, probably because he had school to attend. I played the violin all day to get my practice in. I asked dad what the plans for today were. It was a Saturday off and I wanted him to take a good break. He said that there was actually a company party that day and that was the plan for later tonight. I nodded and wondered why no one spoke of this all week.

We went out to the park with Ha Jin and he played a lot with dad. I tried playing with him, but he always ran to dad. I guessed it was because he really didn't get to know me yet. I was sitting on the bench when I realize someone sat down next to me from the corner of my eye. I continued to keep my eyes on my brother when he started speaking.

"Are you at least not going to say hello to your life saver? A bit rude don't you think?" You could tell the sarcasm in his voice.

I faced him and realized it was Jackson. "I'm sorry, I just tend to keep to myself. Hey, how are you? Are you here by yourself?" I asked him.

"I'm doing well, thanks for asking. How about you? I wanna say that's your younger brother and dad, am I correct? He looks about the age of my younger brother. He's over in the bathroom." I nodded while going back to looking at my brother and dad play.

"So, they're having fun, but what about you? Are you not having fun because your boyfriend isn't here?" Jackson said sarcastically.

"He's actually my boss. He just took me out to celebrate my birthday last weekend." I replied.

"Well, a boss doesn't take a worker out unless they have an interest in a person. But then again, where was he exactly when you almost fell into the water?" He started pondering away when his younger brother ran up to him.

"Hyung, will we play now" He started pulling his arm and trying to go towards the playground.

"Zico, hold on. Don't you see I'm talking to a pretty lady here?" Zico nodded and ran off somewhere.

"So he's Zico huh? He seems very energetic. Way more energetic than my Ha Jin." And with that, Zico came running back with a handful of flowers and handed them to me.

"You're very pretty and deserve these flowers. I hope you are my brother's girlfriend. He needs someone like you."

I accepted the flowers and reached his height. "I can't say I'm your brother's girlfriend, but I can say we are good friends." "Then can you become his girlfriend?" "I can't promise you anything little buddy." I rubbed his head and Ha jin ran over to us.

"Noona, who are these guys? Dad says it's almost time to go." "Hey, you look like my age. I'm Zico." "I'm Ha Jin. What school do you go to?" "I go to Infinite Ring elementary. What about you?" "I go to Rose elementary." "Is your family not rich?" "No, I don't even have a mom either."

I soon pulled Ha Jin into a hug and Jackson said it was time for them to go, that they had things to do and he went his way with Zico. I looked at Ha Jin and his eyes were starting to fill up with water.

"Ha Jin, are you okay?" I asked him. "No, I just want a mom. Someone who can tuck me in at night and sing to me as I sleep. I want someone to cook me dinner and pick me up from school." I kept him in a hug until dad came over to us. He must've understood the situation and said it was time for us to go home.

We got home and dad asked the other family to watch over Ha Jin for us while we go to the dinner party and they were okay with it. Dad then got in the car and drove me to a beauty center downtown.

I looked at dad is shock as we entered the store as everything was expensive by thousands. Dad went up to the lady at the counter and said that I had an appointment. She nodded and asked me to follow her.
