The crunch of the freshly fallen dead leaves was all you could hear. The sky gave such a grim grey color that would've given most other people chills, even though it did the same to you, you still liked it. The sidewalk pathway turned right, leading towards the next block, and you continued walking down it, occasionally pulling your f/c jacket sleeves over your hands since you didn't think of bringing any gloves. You past about three houses, which in your opinion looked basically the same since the neighborhood designed the houses very similarly for some reason, until the park was in your peripheral vision.

It was an unusual park in your opinion. The town you lived in was very small and close-knitted, so everyone knew everyone. There was only one church in your town, and they were the ones who donated the land to the town to put up a park, but that meant the park was next to the church's cemetery. The idea of having the cemetery right next to where children or anyone would be hanging out seemed a little out there.
You quickly crossed the street to the said park. It was still early in the morning, so people were either in school, at work, or sleeping. It was your day off from working at the local convenience store, which was also your free day of the week from college.

You passed the concrete pad set for playing basketball and continued on your way. You turned your attention onto the grey, bleak headstones that lay on a slightly more elevated piece of land. The lively green grass contrasted greatly.

As you approached the area, you noticed that you were not the only person present.
A boy, about high school age, was looking down at one of the graves, and it so happened to be right next to your mother's.
The gap between the two of you grew smaller and smaller until you were right beside him.

He didn't seem to be from around the area, considering his pale skin, because of the location of the town and the constant love the sun seemed to give it. Most of the people were also mixed; the generations before came to the town from all over. He wore a simple outfit consisting of some jeans that were somewhat faded, a dark colored jacket with white sleeves, a white hoodie underneath, and sneakers.

You tried not to let a person's presence bother you, but usually no one came to the cemetery during this time. And normally you were able to have a quiet time visiting.

You had a small paper in your jacket pocket and carefully took it out. Letting out a sigh, you bent down to the level of the grave.
You could feel the stranger's stare on you.
You felt colder all of a sudden.
Setting the paper behind the flowers that were there from the last time you visited, the other person's voice was heard.

"That's your mom right?"
You turned your attention to the boy as he sat down to reach your eye level.
You didn't say anything and only nodded.
He continued to speak to you despite your lack to respond enthusiastically.
"Do you happen to know this person?" He asked pointing to the grave he was standing before.

You looked at the name.

'Yoon Sanha'
'2000 - 2015'

"I know of the family, but I've never really known them closely" you said.
He just nodded.
"You write letters to her?"
"Mmhm." You nodded.
The wind blew softly, ruffling the trees about and making birds pass overhead.
"She definitely reads them," he stated sincerely, to which you just snorted at the thought. "Yeah sure," you retorted.
You were a little weirded out by the way he spoke, acting as if he was close with you or something.
'Mind your own business dude,' you thought, but quickly brushed it off. It's not as if you expected to be seeing them on a daily basis or anything.

The area lightened up, its dim color fading away into pale yellows and oranges.
You pulled out your phone to check the time.
Only about 5 minutes had passed.
You sighed before standing up.
The boy did so as well.
You looked over to him only to see that he was already looking at you.
You turned away and were about to walk away when he spoke once again.
"She really loves that you visit her."

You didn't know what that feeling that overcame you was. It wasn't a good feeling but not necessarily bad. However, something didn't seem normal.

You didn't know what else to say or do, so you ignored that statement and kept walking.
You only reached about halfway down the tiny hill when you couldn't help it.
Eyes widening as you turned around, it was hard to believe.
It wasn't possible, but that's what it was.
That boy who was at the grave...

...was gone.

After rubbing your eyes you looked once more.
There was no one in sight.

Even if he had walked away, you would've still been able to see him.
You turned back around and shook your head.
It didn't make any sense, so you thought that you were just seeing things.
'It's okay. It's just real early and I'm tired and I'm seeing things. It wasn't real so it's okay.' You repeated that over and over in your head.

Hoping that it would eventually be true.
