"Hey party at my house tonight," Carter said, passing out cards to people as she passed by. "It's gonna be fun!"

"How many people do you plan on inviting Carter?" I asked as she handed out more cards.

"As many as I want," she grinned. "My parents left me and Tyler in charge of the house for two weeks while they go out of town. I am going to take advantage of the time I have been given."

She laughed as she passed out more cards to people we passed.

"Is Tyler okay with all of this?" I blushed.

"It was his idea!"

"Do you need help setting up?"

"Yea that would be great if you could come over after school."

I nodded as we proceeded out of the school towards the parking lot.

It was the end of the school year and everybody was throwing parties. Carter and her brother Tyler usually threw very good parties when their parents went out of town and they were planning on this party being "the event of the year."

Being Seniors in highschool had its perks.

Carter and I slid into my car and headed out of the parking lot.

"What should I play?" Carter asked as she plugged her phone into the aux cord sitting on my dash board.

"Did you make a party playlist?" I asked as I made a left hand turn.

"I did!" Carter shrieked.

She fidgeted around the radio for a moment then a loud pop song filled the car.

We drove back to my house listening to her "party playlist."

"I just need to grab my swimsuit and some extra clothes," I explained as I got out of the car. "Am I gonna stay at your house tonight?"

"Yeah," Carter laughed. "Probably."

I laughed and bounded up the stairs to my front door.

"Mom?" I shouted. "Are you home?"

"Yeah," A voice shouted back. "In the kitchen with your dad!"

I rolled my eyes and walked down the hall into the kitchen.

"Hi mom," I said as I ignored the man in the kitchen.

My mom gave me a look and waved at Mike to show it was okay.

He just shrugged as he continued going over some papers at the table.

"So mom tonight I am staying at Carters," I exclaimed.

"Okay that's fine," she replied. "Make sure your phone is charged."

"I will!" I yelled as I walked to my room.

I grabbed my swimsuit and some extra clothes out of the dresser. Turning towards the bathroom I grabbed my makeup bag and my phone charger and rushed back outside to the car.

"Was step-master home?" Carter said as I stepped into the drivers side.

"Always," I said with a sigh.

I flipped the car into gear and headed towards Carter's house.

"Tyler," Carter shouted when we walked into the house. "We are back!"

"Carter I will actually murder you in your sleep if you don't come help me set this up," a voice threatened from the other room.

Carter laughed and walked to where the voice came from.

As we turned the corner we were met with a flustered looking Tyler as he put various fragile items and pictures into a cardboard box.

"Give me that," Carter said as she took the box from Tyler. "Summer help me out. Tyler go make sure we have drinks and food."

Tyler sighed and smiled before hurrying out of the room to do his job.

I blushed after he left and Carter rolled her eyes at me.

"Can you guys just quit and date or something?" She exclaimed loudly.

I gasped and hurried towards her room, pulling her with me.

"He doesn't think of me like that Carter," I sighed. "He thinks of me like a kid sister."

Tyler had graduated the year before us and was taking a break year before applying to colleges next fall.

Carter shook her head with a smile before proceeding to put more picture frames along the walls into the box.

We worked throughout the house putting fragile items into boxes and storing them in a room with a lock and key.

"I think we are ready," Carted exclaimed with a clap of her hands. "I'll put the music on!"

She hurried out of the room leaving me and Tyler standing awkwardly in the kitchen.

"So," Tyler started with a smirk. "Are you excited to graduate?"

I looked down with a smile.

"Yes," I said confidently. "I am very excited to graduate. I am done with school."

Tyler laughed. "That's exactly how I felt."

"Oh yeah," I feigned shock. "I forgot you were so old!"

Tyler placed his hands over his heart as if I had offended him.

"I am truly hurt by that statement Summer," he joked. "I am only a year wiser then you."

I laughed.

"Damn," Carter spoke causing us to jump. "Don't rip each other's clothes off while I'm gone."

My face got red and I looked away.

"Oh Carter," Tyler said as he put his arm around her shoulders. "Forever the single troll."

Carter smacked his arm and stuck her tongue out at him.

I laughed and sat down at one of the bar stools in the kitchen.

An hour after that conversation, people started arriving and I decided to get ready.

I rushed back into Carters room and freshened up my makeup.

I didn't think I was ugly but I definitely wasn't as pretty as Carter in my opinion. Carter dyed her hair constantly in various bright colors while I had gotten my hair dyed a couple times but later decided to keep it as a dark brown color.

My hair was long and straight while Carters was shorter and curlier. My swimsuit was a two-piece black and white striped bikini top with coral colored bottoms. I put on some high waisted ripped black shorts with a red coca-cola cropped t-shirt over the swimsuit. After slipping some black sandals on, I locked her room and walked back out to the party.
