So,Its that time of the month. No,not that time of the month. We're talking about that time when everyone starts getting geared to go back to school.
We know school can be quite a distressing ordeal. We've been there.
We are there.
Anyways, being the generous caring people we are we thought we could dedicate this chapter to all you students out there who need a strategy,a game plan to help you survive the year.
Enjoy!

Alright,alright settle down.
For this chapter I am going to be blunt because I hate school and I don't really care but I have to make an effort im school to
1.keep parents off my back
2.keep teachers off my back
3.????
You see, doing well in school will benefit you because it will give you a reputation of being a hard worker.I know that grades really dont measure intelligence and that school is really a glorified crèche desinged to make you obedient but I dont really have many options open to me as a minor.
I could drop out and get a job but I won't be taken seriously ever again.
So,the best thing to do is treat school like a game.Pretend that your teachers are really smart and that their totally your role models.Pretend that you take the grades on your papers seriously.
Do you see what I'm saying? Make them believe you care.Once they think they can control you they will stop bothering you.If you dont believe me look at any of your classmates that tend to get in trouble alot.Watch how their treated, they don't get respect and when somthing goes wrong they're first on the suspect list.
And yeah,I know the respect you get from teachers is half-assed and anout as genuine as a thank you letter to an aunt who got you deodorant for Christmas but hey,you only have to deal with them for so long.
I'm not really an academic person. To be honest I'd say I'm more street smart.I really hate homework too.
What do I do about that?
Well Buddy,I make sure that I understand the material to the point where the homework is quick and easy or I go and write some semi-random things down and go in the next day with some puppy dog eyes and say I didnt understand the work but I tried really hard. Then again, that's probably what most people do. I'm not saying I'm not a hardworker though because I am,just not particularly in school.
When it comes to nerves or anxiety I just force myself to get whatever is causing me stress done even if its not done to the best degree.Because really its like whatever. Its done.
If its really important I'll cram, like most students.
Honestly,I try not to put too much energy into school because I would rather put my energy into extracurricular things like my acting and singing because their the things I want to do with my life.
On that note,I'll leave you with a little wisdom.
Scholl isnt the only route to a happy life. There will always be ways into your chosen career.Your grades in school do not determine your future. You determine your future.

Personally, this whole back to school business is a waste of time. Running around shops for books and blue shirts and black tights not navy ones. To be honest, passing me a kindle and pyjamas would be easier. At least that way I could learn in comfort. However, seeing as that isn't happening anytime soon, here is your survival guide.
Step One:
Just let your mum get the books, the uniforms, and you sort out a pencil case, supplies and a new bag and there you go. Painless.
However, if you want to take a more difficult approach, be warned, those bags of books are heavy. I mean, I'm surprised I don't have a six pack.
So onto what should be a more helpful section, your subjects. If like Teddy and myself you're going into a new year, in which you have to re-pick your subjects, I suggest you think it through. First of all, you need to have a basic idea of what you want to do after school. I know for many; you won't have a clue. But even just a guideline of subjects that would be beneficial to you helps.
Colleges always like you to have French or Spanish under your belt or German if your school does that, while there are few, very few, who don't, I'd still take it, just to be sure. Secondly, if you think you want to be a Doctor subjects like Music, while enjoyable may not be the priority for you, so pick carefully.
If, however you want to leave yourself open to any type of career give yourself a broad range, an art subject, a science, a language and then something like history or geography. Personally, my subjects are quite creative ones.
Music, Art, French and Technology, along with my three core subjects. No science's, no history, no geography. Which is perfect for me seeing as I want to go on to do art teaching, this leaves me able to create in multiple platforms, versatility, *cue rambling. *
Back to the point, don't choose subjects, 'just because,' or due to a friend being there. I hate science, more so this year due to teacher's etc, so no way in hell was I picking it. Even if I'll be one of the few without a science subject come fifth year.
You also can't choose subjects just to please other's. Otherwise, no matter how good a grade you get, you'll always be left feeling as if something is missing. And you'll continue life in that same, please other's and not yourself pattern, it'll leave you in a job you may hate, and living a life of boredom, with nothing new, nothing you want.
You may be saying, what would I know, I'm still in school, just a teenager. But that doesn't mean I haven't made a few descion's just to please other's in my past. And trust me when I say, just because they are happy does not mean you will be. And it won't be there fault, but yours for not being strong enough to say no.
Just know, that in the end, it is your life, and does who can't take that fact, may not be the people you need in it.
With all of this said, enjoy getting ready for back to school. Buy the most colourful folder and the best hardbacks to doodle on. Make sure you get something close to a 1000-page refill pad for English, and most importantly. Do not choose navy tights, school just don't like them.
