Thanela was a beautiful place, to many visitors this would be their ideal home. However to the people of Thanela, it was painful.

Children did not understand the true meaning of beauty and that it was actually inside of them, not based on their looks or what was on the outside.

Fathers wanted their daughters to look sexual and their sons to get as many girlfriends as they could, mothers wanted their daughters to be the next beauty queens and their sons to be every girls dream.

It wasn't really the ideal world.

Thanela also has a secret forest which eventually leads to another part of Thanela, some would say the poor lived here. The ugly ones.

Except they weren't, they were all beautiful on the inside and out. They were intelligent and did not care about their looks, they understood the true meaning of life.

However they were not praised for this.

The King and Queen built the forest to keep visitors away, not wanting them to see the hidden life that they did not care about.

When Princess Melanie was born, their people were thrilled and for once it shone a bit of light onto Thanela, however it didn't last long.

As Melanie grew up she realised she wasn't like all the other girls, she didn't want to be 'doll-like'...she wanted to be herself. Her parents soon saw this when at the young age of four, young Melanie decided to cut all her hair off after being told a million times that her hair was one of the most perfect things about her.

Shocked they were, but it wasn't ending there.

Melanie did not know much about the other half of Thanela, she'd heard stories about how the people were so mean and disgusting. She found that hard to believe as most of the people she saw now, we're in fact vile in Melanie's opinion.

Melanie had always been curious about the place they called the 'Badlands'.

My heart pounded in my chest as I ran through the forest, sticks cracking beneath my feet. My hands were balled into fists as my arms pumped through the wind, one after the other.

I was close to the gate, all I had to do was jump and I would be safe. I just hope the guards had not decided to wonder off.

I whipped a hand through my bright blue locks as I sprinted through the forest, dodging a couple of trees.

I could still hear the echoes of the guards voices, all of this just because they didn't care about us.

My people had been suffering for so long, I begged and begged for help but they don't do shit. They never will.

My eyes now focused on the gates in the distance, it was just as I passed a pixie tree that I felt myself being thrown on the floor.

I looked down at the feet noticing the red wire which carried on a long way. I hurried to my feet, the sounds of horse hoofs could be heard so close and in the distance I noticed a couple of guards in black and gold uniform. My nose scrunched up out of disgust before I made my way to the gates.

I leaped onto the bars, heaving my body to the top of the gates before jumping other. Our guards rushed over in their baby pink and blue uniforms standing guard whilst I stretched and clicked my knuckles.

"Thanks guys" I yelled before making my way into town, I was headed for one of the houses in the centre of badlands, god those families had it rough but I was trying my best to keep them safe.
