In the Dead of Night

Hello again! I'm probably going to update more often on this since poetry is a bit easier to write rather than a full blown chapter. I know these are all dark and brooding, sorry, but I will be uploading some lighter content in the near future.
Any who, Enjoy you guys!

Do I like being in the ebony darkness?
A thin sheen of inky film surrounds me, derived from late and early
Alone but yet not alone
As only the dreamers are near

I'm left beside myself with my own thoughts
As my mind develops a mind of its own
And wanders off into the vastness
Of everywheres and no-wheres

I become overwhelmed by having the freedom
To think beyond thinking
Everything and nothing entering
The gray matters of my existence

And these thoughts
Thoughts of infinity without bounds,
They begin to make normal things done at day
Seem minuscule in comparison

Left without a leash
My thoughts run wild into the night sky
Eventually leaving my awareness
At the merciless hand of my imagination

But slowly, we all come back
Back to the knowledge of reality
Back to the reminder of limits
Sometimes left either relieved or troubled

And I, I am always snapped back to what I know as truth
Engulfed in the fan's faint whirr in the humid summer night
And the sound of deep respiring,
Having a sedated pace hinting at unconsciousness

All combined as a berceuse which lulls me into my restless and calming slumber

Let me know your thoughts.

Love ya,
