"Vikk."
I was jolted awake, and I rubbed my eyes and looked around, only to see the familiar blue eyes again.
"What?" I mumbled, still half asleep.
"Hi," he grinned. I playfully punch him in the arm.
"Why would you wake me up from my beauty sleep?" I raised my eyebrows, while leaning on my elbow. My wings were suffering from the tightness in my clothes.
"What's behind your back?" He dodged my question, and I froze. Not again.
"I... I have to go. I'm going to skip detention." I scooped my bag up swiftly, and left the class. I heard footsteps, and I turned around, catching Lachlan by surprise.
"I'm skipping too," he informed me. Obviously.
"Seems like you're not the good boy in this school, huh?" I teased him. Now it's his turn to be uncomfortable. I merely walked.
"Let's go and have a tour around this place, shall we?" My wings started to flutter around as I tried to make him go through the same process.
"Why not? It's not like we could go anywhere," he agreed, and I followed him to his car. This is it. It's going to be the end of Lachlan Powers.
We drove around the neighbourhood in silence. Then, I cannot stand it anymore. Dying or not, I'm going to tell him the truth. We both opened our mouths to speak at the same time, and that was a very awkward moment. I gestured for him to speak first, and he smiled at me gratefully.
"Uh... So I was wondering.. How are you still alive?" He started the conversation, and immediately my wings started to mess around, which means I'm clearly nervous.
"I... really don't know how to answer that..." I trailed off. Lachlan wanted to continue, but I stopped him just in time.
"If you really want to ask questions about why I'm still alive, don't," I tell him. He looked uncertain.
"Please? See, I even said please." I begged him. Finally, he looked defeated.
"Vikk... You know we met in year four right?" He double confirmed with me. I rolled my eyes and started laughing.
"Yeah, and that time you were only a kid who doesn't know anything other than Pokemon." Remembering the good old days, we started to laugh even harder.
"And you were the one who didn't realise it was winter and still went out without even a jacket on, freezing your butt off," he shot back. I chuckled. Those memories were good.
"Ok, anyways. Then we became friends. You were, I mean are, one of my best friends that I'll confide in if there's problems. Ever since then, we're literally peas in a pod."
"Yeah, and this morning you looked like you wanted to kill me."
"I was desperate for answers. And... We survived until now," he practically summaries everything up.
"And... I need to tell you something." He said.
I raised my eyebrows. Lachlan obviously needs something when he starts a sentence, so I was kind of expecting that.
"I really really really really really really like you, Vikk..." He confessed.
One more question to break the fourth wall.
"As a friend or..." I sucked in a breath.
After a full minute of silence, he sighed.
"More than that."
