LIQUID PIECES OF MUSHROOMS!AFTER WHAT FELT LIKE HOURS of the boys staring at me Coach Belland jogs over to me.
"Alex, girls tryouts aren't until tomorrow." He informs me.
"Oh, I know in trying out for this team!" I tell him.
Soon the fields engulfed in the boy's laughter. Do these liquid pieces of mushrooms think this is a joke? Wait hold up. Liquid pieces of mushrooms?! Oh god, this is why I have no friends. The boys continued to laugh despite coach's effort to shut them up. Inside I felt broken but I can't show them weakness. I have to be strong like I've been these past 7 years.
"Shut up!" I yell
Almost immediately their laughter turns to crickets. I turn my attention back to coach.
"Coach Belland, this may be unusual but you've seen me play after school. You know I have more respect and more practice than any of these buffoons. And you know damn well the girls won't let me step foot into the tryouts. I'm asking you this one time just give me a chance." I pleaded.
Coach seemed to be taken aback by my words but responded shortly after.
"I can make this exception."
A smirk appeared on my lips as I walked past coach towards the middle of the field. The boys stared in awe as I had the nerve to step on 'their field'.
"Yeah I know I'm beautiful but staring is creepy and we have soccer to play," I said.
My words made them snapped out of their wonderland and back to Coach Belland.
"So for this tryout, we are going to play a game of scrimmage." Coach announced.
Some cheered and some groaned but everyone started looking at their friends and murmurs broke out.
"Now don't thnk you'll be picking your team." The coach said "There are 20 of us so that mean 10 on each team. Okay Team #1, Riley, Ashton, Billy, Glenn, Sean, Adam, Chris, Christian, Connor and Nick."
Team 1 shuffled to the north side of the field having sly smirks slapped across their faces.
"And Team #2, Aaron, Ace, Harper, Gabriel, Caleb, Toby, Noah, Alec, Tyler and last but not least Alex." He called out.
The boys on my team grunted and gave me disgusted looks as they headed over to the south side of the field.
"Right back at you." I smiled just to exaggerate my sarcasm.
We all get into our positions. I was thankful that they didn't put me as a sub. I head towards the striker's position to see someone already there. Who I assumed was Harper.
"Move," I growled.
"And what if I don't." He grinned.
"Move and you will still have the ability to have children." I threatened.
His grin faltered just before he scurried his way over to right wing.
I mentally smiled at my accomplishment. My attention soon averts to the opposing team's striker.
Nick freaking Larson.
"So are you ready to lose." He taunted.
"Nicky stop pretending there's a mirror in front of you."
His jaw clenched and his fist balled. I bit my bottom lip to prevent laughter from coming out of my lips. I mean his expression was priceless.
We heard the blow of the whistle throughout the field.
Nick's team had the first go at the ball. He passes the ball over to his left wing Ashton. Ashton sends the ball over our head hoping it will go to a player on his team.
But nope.
Ace, the right defender on my team manages to headbutt the ball over to me. I stopped the ball with my chest and drop it to my feet. I start to dribble the ball left and right swerving past the other team's players. I could dribble the ball swiftly past the boys with no mistake considering I'm the fastest girl in the entire school.
I can sense some gaining on me. I took a glance behind me to see Nick right on my tail. He sprinted past me and stepped right into my view. I tried to slow my running but ended up crashing into nick's chest and falling onto my butt with the ball still at my feet.
"Come on Alex I thought you were a tough girl." He pouted
It took a lot for me not to knock him in his face.
"Move unless you want to get hurt, Nicky," I said
He growled at the nickname I gave him when were kids. Who growls. Seriously is he an animal.
"Make me." He gritted his teeth.
If he's not going to move then I will. I flicked the ball over his head and quickly got up. I used all my force to push his body out my way. In my view, i see the net. This is my chance. The ball is still flying in the air. It felt like slow motion. I turn my back to the goal and attempted to do a bicycle. I lifted my feet into the air and did a sort of half back flip. I closed my eyes praying I wouldn't miss. I felt the ball hit my laces. I smiled at the accomplishment but then...
Smack!
My back hit the ground. I groaned as I rolled onto my belly opening my eyes. My jaw fell open at the sight. The ball was flying towards the left upper hand corner of the net.
The ball went past the goalie's hand and into the net.
