Open Letter (Amity Affliction Story)

Chapter 4

The day finally ended, and Joel was still by my side. We ended up getting along really well and my friends seemed to enjoy his company aswell. He was a bit shy at first but he opened up.

I ended up giving him my phone number and told him to call or text whenever he wanted, he thanked me for that and I walked to my car. I threw my bag in the back and hopped in. Thought I'd play something not so full on so I settled for fall out boy.

Finally I was home, my phone buzzed.

Joel: Hey it's me, got a bit bored.

Me: Hey, you're all good. So how was your first day at hell?

Joel: hahaha very funny, wasn't too bad hey. Glad I had you, you're a good person Courtney.

I just smiled back at the text. It hit around 4:30pm when I had decided to go to the beach to clear my mind a bit. There wasn't much going on but sometimes you just have those moments, yeah that was me.

I walked along the beach enjoying the breeze that was going through my hair. I looked to my right and saw the sun setting and creating such an amazing reflection on the water. I took my phone out and captured one of the most perfect photos I've ever seen. It didn't need a filter.

I kept walking along the beach when I saw a guy surfing, it was impossible to see his face since he moved so quickly but his body definitely said it was a guy, plus he was shirtless. The way he moved through the waves was amazing. He ended up going a bit further out and just sat on his board very clearly relaxed. He ran his fingers through his hair and it looked like he was watching the sunset aswell. I decided to sit down and ended up on Facebook. I received a message from my best friend in America.

Hallie: OH MY GOD COURTNEY!!!

Me: HALLIEEEEEE OH MY GOSH I'VE MISSED YOU HOW ARE THINGS?!

Hallie: they're really good I recently got engaged! You'll have to fly out for the wedding whenever it is.

Me: of course! Wouldn't miss it.

I kept talking to Hallie discussing little details when I heard "You've got the biggest smile on your face, talking to a boy hey?" I looked up to see Joel smiling at me. I admit I checked him out and realised he was the guy I was observing earlier, oops.

"You scared me! And for your information no I am not talking to a boy, my best friend just recently got engaged so we are discussing wedding details." He laughed at me and sat down.

"It's beautiful isn't it?" He said to me. I looked at him confused. "Calm down, I was talking about the water and sunset" I laughed.

Joel and I just sat there discussing things until I realised how late it was. "Oh my god Joel it's 7:30pm! We've been out here talking for ages!" He smiled at me, he knew.

"I hate to be a pain but I've really got to get home. Do you have a lift?" I asked him. He shook his head. "I walked, got a bit lost since I have no idea where I'm going but I eventually made it.

"Oh, jump in my car and I'll give you a lift home. Your board should be okay in the backseat." He nodded and walked over to my car with me. He placed his board in carefully and jumped in the passenger seat.

"This is your car?!" He asked me with shock. "Uhh yeah, this would be mine. I have the keys for it so I think it's mine" I giggled. I headed away from the beach. "So I'm going to need your address so I can take you home Joel" he laughed. "Sorry, I zoned out a bit. This place really is beautiful. By the way I live off this street, just make a next right and my house is number 182. (Blink reference hehe)

I pulled up in his driveway. "Thank you for the lift home Court, and most importantly the talk we had. It was nice to connect with you." Joel spoke. My heart started racing a bit and I began to blush, thankfully he couldn't see because it was that dark. "You're very welcome Joel" he closed the door and I headed home.

As soon as I got home I had dinner and went straight to bed.

Joel: Seriously, thank you.

Me: Stop saying thank you! I've already said you're welcome :P

Joel: goodnight Court, I'll see you tomorrow. X

Me: Goodnight Joel x

After that I fell asleep
