I know, it's been almost two years but I'm back! Hope you enjoy

The next morning was very rushed to say the least, I slept through my alarm and several missed phone calls from people at school asking where I was. Last night was a rough night, I had a lot of trouble getting to sleep.

After I was dressed and threw my books into my bag I shoved my bag into the back of my car. I also forgot to mention I own a black dodge charger, it's name is Midnight and it's my everything. I decided that I was already late as hell so I decided to grab a coffee, if you're gonna rock up late might as well do it in style right?

I walked into school knowing I missed the first two classes, whoops. I signed in and walked into my third class, music. I noticed Joel almost immediately, he looked up and smiled at me. My heart fluttered but I kindly smiled back before taking a seat.

"Well, it's nice for you to make an appearance today Courtney" Mr Timbs spoke. "Only for you Timbsy" I said back laughing. He continued to talk about what was expected from us in regards to our performances before letting us go and rehearse. As soon as I walked into our prac room, I walked over to the computer and began browsing for the perfect song to learn with Brea right behind me.

"Whatcha thinking about doing?" She asked. "Honestly I've got no idea, tempted to do a Kanye song as a joke. But for real I'm kind of leaning towards Red Hot Chili Peppers". I then heard someone chuckle. I turned around to notice Joel was listening. "What about you Joel? What are you gonna do?" I asked. He just shrugged his shoulders and picked up an acoustic guitar. He began tuning it and playing, I however just sat there watching him be so mesmerized by the guitar. It was like nothing and no one else was around him.

"I can feel your eyes on me Court, are you checking me out?" Joel asked whilst still tuning the guitar. I jumped a bit as his words took me by surprise. Shit, I was busted. "You wish" I scoffed back at him. Yeah, real smooth Courtney.

We suddenly got another knock at the door, I looked up only to be met with our deputy principal yet again. Seriously dude, leave us alone. "Good morning students, how are we today?" he asked. No one responded and I tried so hard not to laugh. He was clearly embarrassed by it and continued on anyway. "Well, once again we have a new student". Behind him was a tall guy, bleached blonde hair and covered in tattoos. I was shocked that they allowed someone like this in our school. "His name is Ahren and he is from Melbourne so be nice". And with that he left, with Ahren behind.

Ahren kind of just awkwardly stood there and began fidgeting. I looked over to Joel and motioned over to Ahren as if to say we should go introduce ourselves. He picked up on it and placed the acoustic guitar on the ground before walking over to Ahren with me right next to him.

"Hey, I'm Joel and this is Courtney". I smiled and waved. "Hey, I'm Ahren". Joel kind of just didn't know what to say so it was awkward for awhile before I rolled my eyes. "So why'd you choose music Ahren? What instrument do you play?" I asked. "Oh, well I love music. I sing and play bass actually" he said back. One thing I noticed about Ahren is how his eyes lit up when he spoke about music.

"Funny that, I'm the same. And we're both from Melbourne". We just began laughing. "Small world hey" he said back. And that's when the bell rang.
