0.4 My Bird Scene

Today, Mr. Sikowitz was late to class so i had a chance to practice my lines one more time. I have read and reread the books so many times that i practically know the entire part.

Tori came inside the classroom, put her bag down, and took two huge coconuts out of her bag. I looked at her strangely. "Why the coconuts?"

"I herd they're Sikowitz favorite." Tori responded while observing the coconuts. I gave a look of understanding, but i was still confused. Jade fixed that for me.

"He said they give him visions. " She shrugged.

Going to my seat, i took the book out to go over my lines once more. I heard a shuffling sound beside me and looked to my left. She was glaring at me.

"You're in my way. I need to get to my bag." She stated like i was suppose to move out of My seat. I glanced at her bag, then glanced at her.

"Too bad." I shrugged. I went back to reading my book.

She stayed standing right next to me. I glanced up at her again. "Che cosa si potrebbe desiderare ora?" I huffed.

"Hey! Why aren't you scared of me? It's bugging me and i can't figure out why. Everyone is-" Jade continued to rant.

I rolled my eyes sighing as i stood up. Book marking my page, I watched her rant for a second, studying her body language, before pushing her pressure point between the nape of her neck and her shoulder. She stopped talking, closed her eyes and went limp. I caught her in my arms before seating her in the chair next to mine and continued reading over the lines.

Tori comes back from setting up her performance and stops in her tracks when she sees a sleeping Jade and me reading a book.

"Did you just-"

"Don't." I interrupt.

Tori nods and walks back to her seat just as Sikowitz walked in.

"Okay class. First things first-" He cuts himself off by stumbling to the ground looking for something that might of tripped him. Everyone looks at him weirdly. He fixes himself and turns to Tori. "I assume you're ready?"

She nods. " I am and please except these delicious coconuts. "

Sikowitz takes them and hums." You know Coconuts give me visions."

Tori hums back and nods."So I've heard."

And so Tori continues with the Bird Scene.

When Tori is done (by that time Jade has woken up and started to ignore my presence-which I'm happy about-) she ask Sikowitz how did she do.

"It was okay." Was his response. That didn't seem to please her as she kept trying to press him.

"So did I pass?" Tori smiled nervously but hopefully.

Sikowitz shakes his head. "Nope. You fail. Again."

"Seriously?" I ask in bewilderment. Tori was again, excellent. If she didn't pass i know for sure that i won't pass at all.

Sikowitz shook his head and Tori looked like she was gonna protest but the janitor cuts her off.

He throws the prop bird she threw out the window at her. Tori ducks just in time. "Watch where you throw you're props!"

It was silent for a second before Mr. Sikowitz yells out my name. Mind you, he is right behind me. I jump at the loudness of his voice.

"Aurora! You're up!"

Dear God.

I huffed and walked onto the stage and prepared for my scene.

After my scene, i hung my head dramatically and closed my eyes. I heard people starting to clap. I smiled and bowed towards them.

"So how did she do?" Tori asked for me. I bit my lip nervously.

"She was good." Sikowitz answered.

"Did she pass?" Rex asked Sikowitz.

Before he could answer the bell rang. "Stay after class." Sikowitz addressed me.

Once everyone left I turned to Sikowitz.

"You passed the Bird Scene. " Sikowitz informed me. I squealed with delight.

"Veramente? Grazie!" (Really? Thank you!)

"Its no problem. You did it yourself. They key to success is to believe in yourself and not pass by other people approval. That's the element of a true actor. " Sikowitz explained.

I nodded. "I can't tell Tori, right? " I asked.

Sikowitz nodded. "She must discover that on her own to pass the test. "

With that being said, I made my way towards the door, ready for lunch.
