Searching For Christian

Chapter 4-Engaged

"What do you mean you need to ask me something?" I asked.

"I have been wanting to do this for weeks and haven't had the nerve to do it."

He got down on one knee and pulled a box out of his back pocket. I couldn't believe it. I covered my mouth in shock. I start crying and ended up on my knees in front of him. Looking directly into his eyes. 

"Aby, I have loved you since you pulled me out of that store. I fell in love with eyes, hair, your waist, how you laugh when you are nervous. The songs that you sing constantly. The way you are quiet when you're upset. I love everything about you. I thought I would never find you. When we met at the coffee shop, I was so relieved to see you. Now that I have you back, i never want you to go away. This pregnancy is also another great thing that has happened to us. It will make us grow stronger together. I can't live without you. Today I look back on the first time we met on that trip and I thought I loved you then. The only thing I regret is not meeting you sooner so I could have loved you longer. Aby, will you marry me?"

By this time Arabella has gotten her phone out and is recording the whole thing, everyone even Timothy is in tears. I can't stop crying. I start laughing my nervous laugh, my mouth couldn't form any words to say to Christian. I just nod and hold out my hand and cover my mouth with the other. My hands are clammy, sweaty, and shaking terribly. He grabs my hand, his hands are so shaky and slips the most gorgeous ring I've ever seen in my life onto my hand. It is was silver and shaped like an infinity sign, with little diamonds everywhere. The silver just sparkled! Everyone is crying now. I look up at Christian and say "Well what a lovely surprise!" we both laugh. We get up from the floor and I just keep staring at the ring on my hand. It just hasn't sunk in yet that I really am engaged to the father of my child, and the man of my dreams.

"Well what is the other big piece of news you guys had to tell us tonight? I can't wait to see it top that!" chuckled Arrie.

"Christian and I went to the doctor today and found out some really big news." I said.

"WE ARE HAVING A BABY GIRL!!!" screamed Christian.

Christian and I are just radiating happiness right now, between finding out we are having a girl and a marriage proposal this day couldn't get any better. I am just awestruck! We all eventually collect ourselves and get back to normal life, if you consider life to be normal. Arrie and her beau Timothy decide to wash dishes, the Wilson's went to bed and Christian and I are sitting on the love seat just staring into each others eyes.

"How did I ever get so lucky to wind up with an amazing young lady like you?" asked Christian.

"Maybe you just said the right things." I snorted back.

"Oh yeah like what?" He asked as he chuckled.

"Like, I love you..."

We both got quite. It was almost too easy to get lost in each others eyes. After a while I hear Arrie and Timothy finishing up in the kitchen. They both come into the living room with us. I didn't have the heart to tell them I was exhausted and wanted to go to bed. I just put on a brave face and mustered through it.

"This has been a crazy night! Am I right?" asked Arrie.

"Yeah I guess." I said as I chuckled and gave a half smile.

"What's wrong Aby?" asked Christian as he grabbed my hand.

"I'm fine I'm just exhausted. It's still so early though so you guys can stay up and talk I think I'm going to go to bed. Night guys!" I say as start to get up and leave. I hear Christian follow me. I just barely get out the door before he's right behind me.
