Ch. 9: Normandy.

Britain sat in her office, she had called America and Canada in for a very important meeting. America and Canada sat before her as she sighed and took out a file from her desk. The title was in bright red letters, it said "OPERATION OVERLORD" Canada smiled, America frowned.

"I don't like the look of this, Britain." America said.

"Stop whining, you'll be fine." Britain told him.

America folded his arms, "What are you planning on doing then?" America asked.

"We're going to storm the beaches of Normandy."

"Are you insane?"

"We need to get France back."

"It's a suicide mission!"

"It's worth it."

"Don't you hate France?"

"We're allies, now shut up!"

America sighed, "Fine, what do you suppose we do?"

"I'm happy you asked," Britain smiled, "Turns out, you might be very good at this, America...you're the one who taught me how to do it..." Britain opened the folder and began to tell Canada and America her plans.

Operation Overlord took over a year to plan. Finally, on the night of June 5, 1944 the plan was put into motion. Nazi soldiers sat boredly at their posts on the beaches of Normandy. Suddenly, 13,000 allied troops parachuted into Normandy, surprising the Nazi's. 800 planes unleashed massive air attacks, dropping over 13,000 bombs on Normandy. Germany glared at the planes, he knew this was Britain's doing. He knew she was trying to regain France so she had more power on her side, he couldn't let her have France. Germany ordered his men to fight harder, they tried and got mowed down by America's foot paratroopers. At this rate, Germany was going to lose Normandy, and possibly the entire war. The Russians were already giving him trouble as it was, he couldn't let Britain push him back into his home. Germany shouted for his men to fight even harder. They got shot down by British forces.

Early in the morning of June 6, 1944 Germany thought the worst of it was finally over. He was wrong. 5,000 Allied naval vessels carried over 150,000 men across the English Channel and onto the beaches of Normandy. The Nazi's, panicked and surprised, began to open fire on them. America and Britain hid behind a log and reloaded their guns, "What does this remind you of, America?" Britain asked.

"Saratoga?" America guessed.

"Exactly." Britain winked at America and turned, taking out about five of the Nazi's on one of the large artillery units.

"How did I ever beat you?" America asked.

"With sheer will power, kid." Britain laughed. Germany stood above everyone else, America saw him and shot three bullets at him. They hit him but it barely hurt him. Germany walked out in front of all of the bullets, they pierced his shirt but they didn't get any farther than that. He shouted at his men to advance, the Nazi's looked at each other wondering if they heard him right, they then tried to advance, they were mowed down.

Canada was still in the water, trying not to get shot. Canada wasn't as strong as America or Britain, as a matter of fact this was the first war he's ever declared on anyone, but he couldn't just let Papa France get taken over by the Nazis. He looked through the water, it was tinted red with the blood of the Allied soldiers that didn't make it. Canada saw a soldier float by him, he took the body and used it for cover, "Sorry Swanson." Canada mumbled as Swanson's dead body was hit five times, Canada shot five bullets of his own, hitting three different soldiers. He was proud of himself. He slowly advanced towards the beach, he did realize that sooner or later he'd have to lose Swanson and get to cover with America and Britain but they were so far up the beach, how would he ever get there without getting hit by Germany? Canada took out a few of the soldiers standing on the beach and ran like hell for America and Britain. America saw Canada was coming and took out a few soldiers that saw him as well. Canada was going to jump for cover when Germany saw him and shot him in his side. Canada fell, Britain turned and saw Canada laying in the dirt bleeding.
