"Hey, Brandon, it's me again." Andy paused, hearing the line crack a bit as she breathed yoga fire breaths. "I was just wondering why you didn't call and show you face for the past couple of weeks." She said, biting her tongue a bit so that she wouldn't let out all her frustrations towards her boyfriend all in one go. She really wanted to talk to him because Brandon being MIA all the time is starting to take its toll on their relationship.
"If you get this message, call me, okay?" She paused again. "I love you."
She put her phone back in her tote bag and went inside her apartment. Andy looked at the wall clock in the living room and it's only six o'clock in the evening—a very unusual feat from her the times that she went home very late, so yeah, this is a nice change
She plopped down the couch and turned to her answering machine. The red light was blinking so she pressed a button.
You have three new messages. The voice from the answering machine piped up as Andy sat a little straighter so she can focus on the content of the messages she'd received.
Hey sweetie, when are you going to visit me and you pops. We really miss you. Okay, talk to you soon.
Her mother's voice is always such a comfort to hear especially when she's feeling a bit down. A beep sounded again, signaling that the second message is about to be played.
Hey, big sis! It's Dylan, your younger brother? Remember me? It's been weeks since we ate out, you promised that you'd take me to eat dinner. Anyway, call me so we can arrange our sched!
The beep for the third message sounded. Unexpectedly it was Sean Vermont, a fairly new friend.
Hey Andy, it's me Sean. I just wanted to ask if you could help me with a new project that I have. It's going to be in Miami, and I sort of need a companion. Since, you're a great photographer, I decided to ask you. Give me a call if you're interested, okay? See ya!
Andy smiled a bit. She felt like Sean was being a big brother she never had. She wanted to say yes but what will she say to Brandon, her boyfriend. She bit her lip and mulled things over. A vacation in Miami and the freedom to do nature photography is like the best of both worlds right now.

Sean was waiting for Andy because they needed to go over the details of their plans of collaborating for a nature shoot in Miami. He plucked his phone out checking the time. It's already past six o'clock in the evening.
"Sean." A familiar voice called him. He smiled and looked up.
Andy was standing in front of him wearing a black dress paired with a denim vest and sensible heels. Sean felt a lump forming in his throat. He grinned broadly at her, hoping that he doesn't look like an idiot.
"Hey," He stood up and pulled out a seat for her.
Andy looked at him and smiled. "Thank you." She said quietly.
Andy looked around the lavish restaurant and instantly felt awkward with the whole situation. "This restaurant's really nice...are you sure this is okay?"
Sean nodded. "Don't worry about it. I know the owner." He leaned in a bit and whispered. "If we won't be able to pay, I can always ask him to make us wash the dishes." He joked conspiratorially.
Andy smiled at him and browsed the menu that was handed to her. Then, she looked up. "So, why'd you ask for my help?" She asked
Sean's brows raised, he grinned at her and set his own menu down on the table. "Technically, I asked you to accompany me..." he said.
And nodded and smiled. "Really? Because that sounded like you were asking for my help, Mr. Vermont."
Sean looked at her and grinned again. "Let's just agree to disagree." He paused as he took a sip of the sweet tea he ordered earlier. "Shall we?" he asked.
"Okay." Andy said as she browsed the menu once again before deciding to order the chicken ravioli.
Sean ordered fettuccini and champagne, much to Andy's protest for the latter. As they ate, they talked about various subjects for their joint project, and as much as she didn't want to admit it, Sean was right, she really needed this—a break...from everything but she still haven't figure out how she'll tell Brandon about it because he'd been AWOL for several weeks now.
"Is something wrong?" Sean asked, noticing how quiet Andy's been. Andy looked at him and shook her head.
"It's nothing." She said.
Sean looked at her as if reading her mind.
"Trouble in paradise?" He offered.
Andy adjusted in her seat. "I don't want to talk about it." She said directly.
Sean looked at her with a worried expression. "He still hasn't called you?" He asked her.
Andy looked up at Sean and nodded. "He's just busy with his first case, that's all." She defended Brandon even though she just felt too tired of doing so.
Sean raised both of his hands in defeat. "Okay. I get it. No need to get so worked up, Andy."
Andy looked at him apologetically. "I'm sorry." She said quietly.
Sean grinned as the waiter delivered what they ordered. As he began to eat, he looked up at Andy and saw her smiling.
"What?" He asked.
Andy shook her head and began eating as well.
This began to pique Sean's curiosity. "Seriously, what is it?"
"Nothing...I just...think that you scoffed down your food without noticing that it's mine..."
He looked at what he was eating and saw a plate of chicken ravioli.
"Ooppss."
Andy laughed. "Don't worry. You're the one paying anyway."
