I let myself in the front door and turned around. I watched as he entered the house with flailing silhouettes in the windows. His mom and dad were probably going at it, and I felt so bad about it. Of course it was nothing I could control, but just imagining a boy as sweet as he is having to grow up in this environment.

I turned around and let myself in my house.
'Where were you?' I turned around. Michael was standing with his hands on his hips and a frown on his face.
'Just.. Out.' I replied. He was still my brother and I was honestly embarrassed with all the boy talk.
'That boy across the street, huh?' He asked as he peered over my shoulder to look through the windows of the door. I nodded embarrassed. He loosened his posture and slung his arm around my shoulder.
'How is he then?' He asked as we walked into the living room. We both slumped on to the sofa and I looked at him.
'He's really nice, I promise.' I smiled. I knew if he was caught doing one thing out of the ordinary that Michael would snap him in half.
'He better be, you know if he breaks your heart-'
'I know I know you'll break his neck. He wouldn't anyway.' I said standing up. 'I'm really tired..' I said hinting for him to let me go. He got up and wrapped his arms around me. 'Good night then.' I hugged him back and left.

As I entered my room I lay myself down on the bed. I crawled across it to look through the window to his house. Shadows danced in the windows of this dim light of the what I'm assuming to be the living room. A light filled the window of the upper left side of the house. I could see Wil. I instantly stopped looking because I really wasn't the type to spy on someone by looking through their windows. I thought maybe I should call him, to maybe take his mind off the rowdy house.

I sat with the phone in my hand. I tucked a loose strand of hair behind my ear and just stared at the phone, waiting for something to happen. It never did.

I woke up to the sound of the kettle wheezing downstairs. I went down to investigate. I walked into the kitchen to see Michael and River deep in conversation. I guess they were close friends too. They started hanging out shortly after my mom died, you could call them good friends but as for me and River, we were the best of friends. I walked over to the fridge and grabbed a bottle of water. 'Rise and shine princess you have 10 minutes to get ready, I'm taking you out for some breakfast.' River said. He grabbed his car keys and left the house. I looked at Michael and he shrugged as he bit into a red apple.

I ran up the stairs and threw on a pair of leggings and an oversized denim shirt. I slipped on my converse and headed to the bathroom. I washed my face and brushed my teeth. I walked outside and got into his car. I pulled down the mirror and started to French plait my hair. River kept glancing at me at every red light and stop sign. 'Hey bud see something you like?' I said. He laughed and continued on down the road. He was going to take me to Ricks, our spot. He's taken me here many times to heal my heartbreaks and hear my stories. He parked in the driveway and stared at me as I finished my second plait.

We walked in and our waitress, Betty came. Betty was friends with my parents for a long long time, she was a close family friend.
'I thought you two disappeared off the face of the earth! I haven't seen you in ages! Is everything alright?' She asked as she hugged us. 'We haven't been hanging much lately,' River laughed. She led us to our seats and we sat. She whipped out her pen and paper as River ordered for us.
'I'll have scrambled eggs with bacon and toast and she'll have a plate of pancakes with butter and syrup and some bacon on the side.' River said. 'Oh and a latte with extra foam and a large glass of orange juice please!' I chimed in. Betty chuckled, 'y'all know I already know what you're gonna order, it's just so cute to hear y'all order for each other.' She smiled. My face burned up.

I was in a deep conversation with River when I looked over his shoulder to see the food coming. I got so excited when it was set down in front of me. I looked at River and took a big gulp of my orange juice. I couldn't help but notice the strangely familiar figure behind him, walking through the door. He was dressed in a hoodie and some jeans but he really looked fine. As I realised who it was, I choked on my juice.

'Hey, hey! Are you okay?' River said. I nodded and kept my head down, trying to avoid his eyes on me. Trying to avoid Wils eyes on me. 'What's wrong why are you doing that?' River asked as he looked around him.
'Listen Rio,' I said sarcastically, 'that guy at the door was the guy I went on a date with last night. I really don't want him thinking I'm seeing other people, and if he sees us here, that's what he's gonna think. Help me out here bud, I really like him.' I said as he turned around to catch a glimpse of Wil. He turned back and winked at me, nodding. We ate in silence for a while when the same slim figure headed towards us.
'C-Calla?' He asked.
'Hey Wil'
'I called to your house but your brother said you came here, I didn't know you had company,' he said as he eyed up River, who at this very inappropriate time couldn't hold in his laughter. 'I guess I'll leave you two to it..' He said as he turned around.
'Wil wait!' I got up and followed him outside.

He rolled his eyes and turned to face me. 'He's just a friend, honest!' I said.
'Yeah I don't know you well enough to believe you.' He said fiercely. I stood back, shocked, hurt.
'We went on one date anyway! It's not like you own me!' I fought back. He bit his bottom lip and sharply let out a breath.
'Is everything okay here?' I shot my head back to see river standing in the door frame.
'Yeah, I was,' he looked at me, 'I was just leaving.' He said as he walked to his blue car, slamming the door after he got in it.

'Jeez if I had of known taking you out for pancakes would have caused you such a fuss I would have taken you out for ice cream instead'
