Chapter 2 ~ Change

As we pulled into the emergency center, Max began to understand what was happening. "Why are we at a hospital Mrs.Lewis?" "Is my mom hurt?" She tried to ignore him for the time being until we reached her room so he wouldn't freak out. "MOM", he cried as he went to her bedside, is everything okay?" Yes sweetie, I'm fine." "Where's Scarlett", he said. "She's in another room she fine as well." I'm so relived to know you guys are okay", Mrs. Lewis stated. "I was worried sick." "Yeah, that car hit us pretty hard, I'm just blessed to be alive right now". "Knock, Knock" "Come in!" It was a doctor. "Hi , Mrs. Smith". "I just wanted to talk to you for a moment about your daughter". "Is everything okay doctor", she replied. "For the most part, she has no broken bones or anything, but we did notice something". "What!" "Scarlett seems to have some hearing lost most likely due to the impact to her head from the crash." "So what does that mean for her?", she replied. "Well she may not be able to hear properly ever again." "So you're saying my daughter may not be able to ever hear again?!" " Not necessarily, there is a possibility that the ear may heal some and she can regain some of her hearing, but it's very unlikely in theses cases. "Well how is she supposed to live if she can't hear?" The good news is, she isn't completely deaf, but she will need some pretty advanced earpieces to even hear a little." "Does this mean she can't do gymnastics anymore, I mean she lives for it doctor?" From what It looks like, No. Anymore blows to the head could further damage her head.
Ugh, I have this huge headache. Where am I? I looked around and I was covered in bandages and had an iv hooked to me. Oh my gosh, what happened. I saw a nurse in the corner. "Excuse me, miss, can you tell me what happened please?" .....
I saw her lips moving but nothing was coming out. "Can you speak louder please?" Her lips continued to project no sound. Wait, can I even hear myself. I realized I couldn't hear anymore, and began to cry.
