14. If it came down to it

Maya pov
It was the next day and I had to tell Xander I was leaving. I walked up to the lifeguard stand and I couldn't believe what I saw. Xander was making out with some girl. I cleared my throat and that got his attention.

"WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!" I yelled in rage.

"DONT PLAY THAT WAY WITH ME!"
we were both screaming yelling at each other angrily.

"WHAT WAY" I didn't understand.

"THE ALL INNOCENT WAY YOU NEVER LIKED ME YOU ALWAYS LIKED HIM AND IF IT CAME DOWN TO IT YOU WOULD'VE CHOSE HIM OVER ME!"

We both were tearing up until in I decided to just say what we were both thinking.
"YOU KNOW WHAT FINE IM DONE I HAVE TO GO ANYWAYS." I yelled and I walked away angrily.

I leaped off the stand and into the sand. I started to run away and realized I was to lazy so I just walked. As soon as I reached my room I packed up all my things as quick as I could and slammed the bedroom door. Riley heard and tried to open the door but I locked it.

"MAYA OPEN UP NOW" I didn't answer.

"fine you wanna play that way"
she said threw the door. at first I didn't know what she meant.
But then I thought about it... (aw shit) I heard loud footsteps and hide behind the bed as I saw the door knob fall off.

"MAYA WHATS WRONG" Lucas yelled

my eyes were red and puffy and I was trying to stop sobbing. I couldn't hold it back so I let the tears fall as I was sitting on the ground.
Lucas pulled me into a hug and I sobbed into his shoulder.

"hey what's wrong"

"Xander made out with another girl and I broke up with him"

"well to be fair you made out with me on your date with him"

"well to be fair you kissed me" I said mocking his "to be fair".

"it's ok if he wasn't worthy of you anyways"

"wanna know the worst part"

"what"

"he was right"

"How was he right"

"he said if it came down to it, to choose between you two, that it was never him and it was always you"

"That's bad how" he said with a smirk.

"it's not it's just I feel bad because I didn't realize it earlier and I basically used him"

"well it's not your fault you didn't know"

"BUT I SHOULD'VE"

"ok ok calm down blondie"

"Well go ahead say it"

"say what"

"say I'm awful and I'm mean and I'm the worst human being in the world" I said quietly yelling and slapping his shoulder.

"ok your awful and your mean and your the worst human being in the world" he said mocking me and trying not to laugh.

"you know your an awful liar"

"Hey I can't lie to people I care about"
we stared at each other for a long time until I broke it and stood up.

"well I have to finish packing we leave soon" I said shakily he got up and hugged me one last time smiling before leaving. well better I be prepared for a long plane ride. (oh boy this could only go bad)
