Halley and Virginia

The people of Hog's Fang were very familiar with those weird teenagers that would visit the town sometimes, and because they would pay for everything with pure silver coins, they were always welcome at the shops and pubs and the business owners would dash to attend them as soon as they showed up.

"Anything I can get for you, ladies?" a woman in her late twenties said, pulling a pair of chairs so Halley and Virginia would sit comfortably beside the fireplace- "Today we have a very nice Strawberry cake, you are going to love it!"

"That sounds good, and a Pint of Guinness for me, please" Virginia ordered, taking a look around at the stylish decoration of the pub- "What about you, Halley?"

"Could I have some sparkling apple juice, please? I want to cut down my drinking..."

The owner of The Three Toothpicks thought it was a little weird that these teenagers would drink so much, but anyway, she beamed at them and returned a few minutes later with the strawberry cake, Virginia's pint of Guinness and a huge glass of sparkling apple juice for Halley.

The music was soft and quite romantic, there were few other customers around and Virginia would sometimes look right into Halley's hazel eyes as she enjoyed her strawberry cake...

"Are you liking War Magic so far, Halley?"

Halley was rather thirsty after the long walk from Lake of the Hallows, so she quickly finished her apple juice and immediately ordered a second. Her wolf tail was moving happily from one side to the other as she stared into Virginia's green eyes, trying to read whatever that Virginia was thinking that night...

"It's definitely harsher than I expected... Hey, when are you going to invite me to check out that mysterious Gryffin Tower?"

"You have to invite me first!" Virginia replied, playing with the foam of her beer- "I took Donald to Gryffin Tower in our third year, and after that, he broke the promise and refused to let me visit Raven Tower."

"There is something that I really want to know, but everyone refuses to tell me more about her" Halley said- "Virginia, what is the name of she-the-badass and why did she want to kill me when I was little?"

Virginia seemed to be a little taken aback by Halley's questions, but anyway, she recovered quickly and tried to give the best possible answers to her friend:

"Halley, her name was V... V-Ve... Vel... Velaydamorte" Virginia whispered, shaking a little at the sound of the name- "She was the most powerful Witch in a thousand years, the wars that she caused devastated half of the British lands and for a few years it seemed that she would take over the entire world... and then, you came."

"You are the first person I know that has dared to say the name, not even Looney wants to talk about her" Halley said, truly impressed- "Virginia, why would Velaydamorte want to kill me? I know that a Seer somewhere told her to do so, but... why me? What is it that makes me so special?"

"I am not sure" Virginia replied, looking cold and mysterious- "But we have a nice theory at Gryffin Tower: Halley, you are likely to become just as powerful as Velaydamorte once was... Which means that she could have been trying to steal all this power from you, and become truly... invincible."

The girls remained silent for some time after that, ordering another strawberry cake and even more apple juice for both. A few of the other customers would sometimes stare at the werewolf girl, then quickly looking away when Virginia defiantly stared back at them...

"I hope that Velaydamorte is really dead, in that case."

"We cannot know for sure, she just vanished" Virginia said, finishing the last bites of strawberry cake- "Halley, there is something that I want to try- I hope that you won't think I am weird..."
