LUCYI watched as Laxus and (y/n) passed us. Laxus had his arm around (y/n) possessively and for whatever reason she wore a troubled look.
"What a strange couple." I murmured to myself.
"What was that, Lucy?" I heard from behind me. I turned around to see Mira standing behind the bar washing a glass. I walked over and sat down at the bar in front of her.
"Nothing... I just never really imagined (y/n) and Laxus together." I replied.
"Well, it's not too farfetched." Mira smiled knowingly.
"What do you mean?" I furrowed my eyebrows.
"When I joined Fairy Tail, (y/n) and Laxus were already 16 and I was 13, along with Erza, and the rest of the guild were only kids. But from stories I heard from the older members Laxus and (y/n) met when they were little after one of the older mages in the guild found (y/n) and brought her here. (Y/n) and Laxus became best friends instantly and would spend every waking moment with one another." Mirajane giggled. "Apparently they were rivals as well and fought just like Natsu and Gray."
I laughed back, imagining Laxus and (y/n) fighting as little kids.
"No one knows for sure, but apparently Laxus and (y/n) began to date as teenagers." Mirajane continued.
"That would make sense, (y/n) said something about dating Laxus again earlier." I pondered.
Mirajane gave me a small nod. "But not long after I joined the guild, Laxus' father was excommunicated for endangering fellow guild members. Laxus changed after that. Before his father left, Laxus was light-hearted and full of laughter and joy. He would always tell us kids stories of missions he and (y/n) went on, we loved it." MIrajane smiled at her old memories. "And apparently as a little boy Laxus refused to hurt a fly. But after his father was expelled, Laxus became cold and developed a short temper. Him and (y/n) stopped talking all the sudden, and we all knew something had happened. From then on, he got worse and worse and evolved into the person he is today." Mirajane concluded sadly.
"Wow..." I whispered. The story got me wondering about all the guild members hidden pasts.
"(Y/n) changed that day too, she used to be so curious and naïve, she earned the nickname 'Fairy Tail's sunshine'; everywhere she went she would put a smile on everyone's face. She was so caring and kind to every soul she met. Now, she fakes that old personality to make sure no one worries about her, but we can all see through her mask. She's built up brick walls around her heart that are glass to the rest of the guild."
I looked down sadly at the story Mira told me.
"What do you think happened to cause a rift between them?" I questioned.
"I'm not sure." Mira answered. "But I know for sure Laxus messed up bad; and during his mission with (y/n) this week she rewarded him a second chance. I just hope he realizes how lucky he is for receiving it and doesn't ruin it. (Y/n) doesn't deserve that kind of heartbreak, no one knows her past before Fairy Tail, but there's a look in her eyes that makes it obvious she's experienced terrible grief."
"But with all that behind us, how about we focus on the positive!" Mira smiled.
Mira and I engaged in small talk, but a certain cosmic mage lingered in the back of my mind.
(Y/N)
"Keep going!" I hollered at my boyfriend. I was currently lying on his back while he did push-ups. I lounged on his muscular back, staring up at the fluffy clouds. The sounds of the river flowing calmed me; it felt weird to be back at the river with Laxus. I never expected we'd be here together again.
He grunted and muttered something angrily under his breath.
"What was that, pretty boy?" I snapped.
"(Y/n), remind me again why we're doing this?" Even with me on his back, Laxus easily continued doing push-ups.
"You were the one who wanted to do something!" I retorted.
"Training isn't exactly what I had in mind." He countered.
"What could be better than this?" I asked in a singsong voice, shutting my eyes and relaxing on his solid back.
"This!" Laxus yelled suddenly, flipping me off his back and pinning me down to the grass. I lied on the ground as Laxus tickled me violently.
I squirmed and squealed all while laughing. "L-Laxus!" I complained through a laugh. "This is-isn't fair, you know how... ticklish I am!" In response he tickled me more, beginning to chuckle at my reaction.
"I'm gonna pee!" I shrieked, trying to push away his hands. Laxus finally stopped and placed his hands on either side of my head, looming over me.
I smirked mischievously at him and placed one hand on the back of his scalp, pulling his head closer to mine. Our lips touched and Laxus melted into the kiss. He placed one hand on the small of my waist, his fingers slightly lifting my top. The grass tickled my bare skin.
I pulled away from our kiss and looked at Laxus with amused eyes. "You're right, this is way better than training."
Laxus smirked and nodded, reconnecting our lips.

"(Y/n), we just got back from a mission, why do you have to leave on another?" Laxus crossed his arms and watched me pack.
I continued to pack my duffle bag despite his complaining. "I have rent to pay, Laxus. Not all of us are lucky enough to be the grandson of a rich guild master."
I turned around and watched as he grumbled something unintelligible and looked away. I chuckled to myself and sauntered over to the wall of my apartment he was leaning against.
I cupped his cheek and gently forced him to look at me. "Don't be mad, I'll be back in less than a week. Besides, you haven't spent time with the Thunder God Tribe in a while; they miss you."
Laxus hummed in response and pulled me closer to him by my waist.
"Just don't leave me for Freed, I think he has a crush on you." I whispered the last part deviously, as if it was the juiciest secret ever.
Laxus rolled his eyes at my antics and attacked my lips with his hungrily. His hand slithered down to my ass and he squeezed it. I pulled away with a jump and grinned up at him.
"Not now, I gotta finish packing, my train leaves in two hours." I stuck out my tongue at him. "Besides, I just made my bed." I winked at him and turned around, swaying my hips a little as I walked in an attempt to tease him.
Suddenly, I felt a sharp slap on my bottom. "Hey!" I whipped around and glared at Laxus who feigned innocence.
"How rude..." I mumbled, continuing to pack and chat with my boyfriend.
