Chapter One:
The Ceremony, fall 1535
I Geoffrey,
Opened the big wooden doors to the church, I was the youngest of the four brothers in the brotherhood of the Hriching’s, but in some ways, I was the bravest. I had short brown, clean cut hair—My mother had made me cut it for the ceremony, I never knew how hard it was to cut my hair with a sword was until then—I stared forward, Queen Isabella the ninth and her husband, Peter the fifth stood before us with their two daughters, Princess Oriella and Princess Annabelle. Annabelle was wearing a beautiful red dress today, it brought light to her face, I thought. My brothers stopped laughing as they realised the atmosphere of the room was serious, I could have laughed, they were hardly ever serious.
I walked forward then, ignoring all the admiring eyes of the maidens looking at us, as our brotherhood legacy states, we were never to let any maiden get to us, unless our legacy was running out of heirs and we needed more. King Peter the fifth didn’t have a smile as usual on his face. I could hear my brothers behind me making remarks about him, they may be older, but they sure were not smart. We reached the platform where the king and queen were with their daughters, we stood facing them.
“Kneel.” The Queen commanded. All four of us kneeled down on one knee.
“We have four brave men here before us, they are the four sons of one god, and they are all uniquely brave and talented, they have served us well in many wars, and now it is time for them to have a ceremony of their own.” The King spoke. The servant handed him a sword and the King took it into his own hands. I was shaking inside, this was the only part I hated about the ceremony, because the King’s hand could slip on the sword, and he could accidently cut one of us.
He went to my eldest brother first, William.
“Sir William, I King Peter the fifth now pronounces you a full knight of the Fretin dynasty.” The King recited, he placed the sword gently on both sides of William’s shoulders. My brother bowed his head deeply, and did not bring it back up until the King moved on to my second eldest brother, Earl.
“Sir Earl, I King Peter the fifth now pronounces you a full knight of the Fretin dynasty.” The King said the same words, again and went on to my third eldest brother, Henry and Earl did the same as William, he bowed his head deeply. When the King finished his words on Henry he moved on to me.
“Sir Geoffrey, I King Peter the fifth now pronounces you a full knight of the Fretin dynasty.” The King said. I bowed my head deeply and didn’t raise it until after he placed the sword on both sides of my shoulders and had gone back to where the Queen stood. The servant came and took the sword away, then quickly ran off the stage.
“These four knights have and will serve us many more great years, but as we all know they will all one day die, either from war, sickness or age, so let’s bear them our gratitude today.” The King told the crowd. There was a long silent pause. “The ceremony is over now.” The King clapped his hands as he said this. There were loud claps, me and my brothers raised to stand, and suddenly everyone was exiting the church. Princess Annabelle came rushing to us.
“Sons of the Hriching brotherhood, come your party for the ceremony is about to start.”Princess Annabelle told us excitedly, I shrugged and followed her and my brothers.
The party room was bigger than I think all of us expected, we had never been into the room until then. Princess Annabelle led us down to a table where we sat, and then she left us to go be with her sister.
“So who’s going to be the first to try the drinks?” William asked. I didn’t pay attention to him, I was too busy looking at Annabelle, but I knew what he really meant by drinks.
“Oh not me, no thanks, I’ve got my eye on our travels we will be doing, do you know we’re going to china next week to met the king and his daughter, Princess Cho Ling.” Earl said. A princess, A travel, so soon too, why hadn’t I heard of this sooner?
“Really? We’re traveling so soon after the ceremony?” I asked.
“Yes brother, which means you have to leave Princess Annabelle, I wonder if she’ll be taken while you gone!” Henry said, he laughed deeply.
“That’s not funny. It’s one of our duttys to protect her too.” I commented.
“Yes, but it isn’t our duties to fall in love with her!” William said back.
“I didn’t say I loved her!” I told him.
“Seems like it.” William whispered.
(Chapter 1 Never Did Get Finished, But I Did Start Chapter 2 Anyways. Because These Chapters Each Have One Princess In Them, Which Means They Would End Around 50 Pages Before Moving Onto The Next Chapter With The Next Princess & Brother's Romance)
Chapter Two:
The Chance, winter, 1535
I took Geoffrey’s hand,
It was wrong, and not right, but I did, I didn’t care if he was foreigner in my country, he was a brave knight that needed love too.
Geoffrey tried not to show that he was confused by what I was doing, but it didn’t work fully. I took a few steps closer to him and looked him straight in the eye; he didn’t look away, not even as the wind blew at my long black hair and blue wrap dress.
“Geoffrey.” I whispered.
“Choie.” He answered; His brothers and he all called me that.
“Kiss me?” I asked simply. I saw him gulp.
“I never could my lady, for I am just a knight, and you are my Princess that I am to protect.” Geoffrey told me. Was he always this formal and serious? I would have to make the move I decided. I leaned in and slowly pulled his head to mine.
It was like the world burst into flames, I couldn’t see, I couldn’t think straight. It was like there was this connection that only he and I could imagine.
But when I pulled away, smiling so much I couldn’t bear it, all I could see was the shock on his face.
“C-Cho Ling?” Geoffrey stammered. I brushed his hand with my finger.
