I step out from behind the curtain and the lights are on me. As I slowly prance down the catwalk with an elegant grace, or what I hope is elegant grace, I look around at the crowd. The house is full and they are all looking right at me. I don't get nervous, ever, and I'm still not nervous now. I've waited years for this moment. Ever since I was five years old I've wanted to design fashion and hold shows and be famous. But hey the famous part is every kids dream.
As I walk there are cameras and eyes following my every move. I'm smiling, I feel like its too big but I can't help it, in beyond happy. When I was 16 we had a careers day at my high school, everyone went to find out some information on the things they thought they wanted to do or they just roamed around. Not me I walked past every stall looking for something on fashion, but there was nothing. I looked for the whole day, I went to a few of the magazine journalism stalls and I asked around but there was nothing. That night I went home and cried myself to sleep.
My dress sways around my feet as I walk, I feel like I might trip over but I wont, I practised this along with everything else. My dress is a full length off white gown with a black belt and a frill around the waist. With this I wear black strappy heals.
Now walking to the end of the stage I realise I should not have let that day bring me down so much, I almost gave up my dream. But hear I was making it come true. I landed on my set spot and looked out at the crowd, the room went silent as I took a deep breath revelling in this moment that will only come once. I lift the microphone to my lips,
"Ladies and gentlemen, I'd like to thank you all for coming tonight it means so much to everyone partaking in this momentous event," a round of applause. "I have been working on this line for years trying my hardest to perfect every single one of my pieces."
It's true I spent the past two years working on this one line. But every tear every drop of blood and every breath was worth it for this moment.
"Now I know you have all been waiting to see what I, as a new designer has done. Well before I show you I'd like to give a little piece of information about my line."
I slowly move back and forth across the stage as I talk, and the cameras follow my every move. This show is being aired tomorrow, out there for the world to see, it'll be all eyes no me.
"My line is called Angels attitude, I got this name from my fascination with angels and what is actually real in this world we live in, as well as the attitude that everyone has, even the most angelic of people. So there I created Angels Attitude."
Finally, I got the chance to tell the world the name that has been my world for two years, it feels good just knowing I finally got to share.
"Without further ado, ill hand back over to your host for the night, Mathew." more cheers.
As Mathew walks over, I hand him my mic and give one last wave to the crowd before turning to strut back down to where my girls are waiting for their count in.
As I reach them I notice they all look beyond nervous. This is not good I need confidence, I need smiles and I need bravado. Nothing less will do. Looks like we'll be needing another pep talk.
