In one of the movies/ books of Harry potter, it shows Voldemort going to kill harry, with the unforgiving curse "Avada kedavra", but had failed because of the power of 'love' from Harry's mother. What he could have done though, was simply through Harry out of the window or something, I mean, he was just an infant at the time... Stupid voldemort.
