idk what show this was, sorry
"you know one of my pet peeves is when i go to a concert and someone on stage says: give it up for yourselves. i don't like that, i don't know why it just feels weird as an audience member for me to clap for myself and it's just kinda like why are we doing that? so i don't want to use those words exactly but i'll tell you that it was a hot day today, you were out in the sun and you were surrounded by pavement. and i want you to know that i'm very proud of you for surviving all the way to the end, my friends. give it up for yourselves. listen, listen. thank you for letting us write the type of songs we want to write. you guys have bonded with us and it really means a lot. listen. we make music, we write music, for you to take and to use by yourself. maybe it's a darker time. i want to thank you so much for using our music to get yourself from one place to the next. hearing those types of stories means the world to us. sometimes we get asked the question: you know, guys, why, why are your songs and your records so, so dark and somber but then the show, it just seems like a celebration? i want you to know it's meant to be that way. because when you listen to our songs by yourself, it's our goal for someone to us those songs to get from one place to the next. but if you survive, if you make it to the next night, it's also our goal for you to show up to a place like this and celebrate with everyone else around you that you made it to another day, my friends."
