A Year Together (A Near X Reader)

Chapter 3: The Meeting

Y/n PoV

We we're all waiting for our taxi's to arrive. I had to ride with the white haired boy. Two Taxi's came into our view. Once the cars parked, Watari asked the drivers to unlock the trunks and who was riding in the car stuff into the trunk. I was going to ride the second taxi.

"Ok everyone's stuff is in the car's trunk now let's head to the science center where we all are going to a meeting about the experment." Said Watari getting into the first taxi.

Mello and Ryuzaki climbed into the backseat of the first taxi. While they we're getting into the backseat me and the white haired boy we're already in and had are seatbelts on.

"Miss y/n my name is Near, I wanted you to call me that since you didn't know my name." Said Near

"Oh ok, thanks for letting me know." I said to Near with a smile.

"Why are you smiling, y/n." Said Near raising an eyebrow.

"Well I'm thankful that you told me you're name." I answered.

"I don't understand why people smile, cry, get upset, and various other things." He said.

"Well it's showing their feelings about something, have you ever cryed or smiled?" I asked Near.

"I don't remember crying or smiling." Near answered

"What you haven't felt anything?" I asked very shocked.

"Well it's not my job to have feelings." He said to me looking out side the window.

"Then what is you're job than?" I asked

"I can't say until the meeting is over." Near said ending the conversation.

I just looked at Near for the entire rest of the taxi ride. Why is he so mysertous and why doesn't he feel anything? Maybe when he meets his partner he will feel something. I'll talk to her when the partners are called.

The car stopped at a very big and tall building. The first taxi in front of us stopped as well. Mello, Ryuzaki, and Watari got out of the taxi real fast. We climbed out after them. I stood between Ryuzaki and Near since I didn't know Mello.

Watari asked the taxi drivers to unlock the trunk. He got all of our stuff which I asked if he need help. He said no. Sadly I walked besides Near who kept staring at me. I of course asked if their was something wrong. He said no. When we were in the lobby their we're lots of 18 years olds.

"Listen everyone, the meeting will start in a few minutes. Sit by anyone you please." Yelled Watari.

A girl came up to me and asked if I can sit by her. Of course I said yes and we both asked questions about each other. She was very nice. Her name was Briana.

"Everyone please come into the theatre." Yelled Watari.

Everyone slowly came into the theatre. Me and Briana we're one of the first ones in the theatre so we were in the front seats.

Once everyone was in the theatre. The meeting started.

"Well everyone please be in your seats and stay quite while the meeting. And the meeting will start now." Said Watari through the microphone.

He went off stage. Everyone was quite. Then Ryuzaki went on stage with a microphone.

"Hello everyone, my name is L and I'm leading this experiment of Love." He said

Everyone was now even quiter. People who whispered shut up.

"Now we will say that the experiment lasts a year and you will have a partner not partners." He said.

"We will call numbers if your name is called with that number stand up. We will start with young ladys" He said.

Once the first number was called I hoped I was with a kind partner. My name was called on number 24. Once every girl was called he said to sit down.

"Now gentleman it's your turn, lady's please member your numbers if you forget come talk to Watari." L said

I didn't really care about what girls said I cared about what boy stood up on number 24.

"Number 24, Near." L said.

I was shocked. Why Near? Does L choose or does Near.

"Remember your number everyone." Said L.

"Come on y/n, everyone already left." Said Briana.

"Okay, let's go." I said as I stood up.

Me and Briana left the theatre very smoothly since we were the last people.

Once outside the theatre, everyone was crowded. Everyone was mixed up but I didn't really care about that I cared about Near and me being partners.

"Everyone their are cars with numbers find your number, I with the help of several people loaded your stuff in the trunk." Yelled Watari over the crowd.

I went outside with everyone else to find the 24 numbered car. I finally found it but I was surprised to find Near and L.

"Miss y/n may I talk to you before you go?" Asked L.

"Sure..." I said

"Near please wait in the car for y/n, it will take a minute." Asked L

"Ok, I'll wait for y/n in the car." Said Near while getting in the car.

"Miss y/n, I choose Near to be your partner since he doesn't have many feelings." Said L

"And I wanted the smartest girl to make Near have feelings." Continued L.

"Um, ok I better get going." I said stepping towards the car.

"Ok, thanks for talking to me." Said L

I got in the car to find Near waiting for me.

"How was the talk, Miss y/n." Said Near

"I don't want to talk about it." I said very harshly but then smiled at Near who flinched as I talked.

"Sorry I didn't want to talk about it." I said still smiling.

The car was going by some houses. Let the experiment begin.
