Amanda's POV
All of us just stood there silently for a few moments. Mr. Dawes was now gone too. Subjected to the burning sunlight.
Ray turned to face me. I gasped. His eyes had gone back to their icy blue color, but his skin still wasn't normal. His blood lust still lurked under it somewhere.
"Amanda....I..." Ray tried.
I put my hand up to silence him.
"Ray, I know what you're going to say. And....ok." I said.
"Ok?" Ray and my parents asked simultaneously.
"Yeah. You told Mayor Spangler that you wanted my blood all to yourself. So come and get it. Feed on me, take my blood, but leave my family alone. Let them leave." I bargained.
"Deal. I won't hurt them." Ray agreed.
I began to walk towards Ray.
"Amanda no!!" Mom protested.
"I know what I'm doing mom!" I assured.
I stood directly in front of Ray, who eyed me hungrily. His eyes had gone red again. He mentally picked a spot on my neck and looked into my eyes.
"Ready?" He asked.
"Yes." I replied.
Ray stared at me, even with his hungry red eyes he looked regretful about doing this.
"I love you Amanda." He whispered before nibbling into my neck. I felt his teeth pierce my skin. He began to feed on me.
That's where I had a plan. I held onto his shoulders and slowly walked him towards the kitchen window. Into the sunlight. He began to burn instantly. Releasing me from his grasp I ran back over to my family. We watched in horror as Ray burned. He didn't let out a cry of pain or anything. Instead he smirked at me and shook his head until he was gone.
"Amanda are you ok?" Mom asked, checking out my neck.
"Yeah....I think so...." I replied half-heartedly.
Mom smiled apologetically and rubbed my back.
"I'm sorry honey. I know that you really liked him." She comforted.
I didn't say anything back. I just nodded.
We all grabbed up our bags and brought them out to the van. Afterwards we all piled into it and drove off. We passed another car on the road right after leaving the house. It looked like a young couple in the car. What they were doing in Dark Falls I'd never know.
I didn't say anything the whole ride back to our old town. Nobody made an effort to talk to me either. Except for Petey, who cuddled with me most of the ride. They knew how I felt. I just killed the guy I liked, to save us. It's not like I had another option...as much as I wished that I did......
We arrived back at our old house late that night. We rolled out the futons in our old rooms that night to sleep on. It was a sleepless night for me. I thought about crying myself to sleep, but I didn't feel the need to cry. I felt horrible about what I did, but somehow I didn't think that was the end of Ray. Especially with the way he went out. He just smirked at me and shook his head. Eventually I drifted off from the exhaustion of thinking too much.
The next day the family focused on getting the house redecorated. We all went out shopping for new beds and dressers for our rooms. Thats one thing I would miss about Dark Falls; my big bedroom.
The months passed and eventually things went back to normal. Fall came and school started. I was at least happy to still be with my old friends and I started to think less about Dark Falls every day. But Ray crossed my mind at least four times a day....I missed him.
