she walked in and i felt my heart beat increase.
id seen her around town, i was sure of it. the way her hips swing when she walks seemed so familiar.
but this feeling was all too new.
my heart was beating quickly, and i was surprised it didn't burst out of my chest. i leaned against the counter and wiped my sweaty palms on my polo shirt.
deep breaths, ashton.
she sat down at the pink barstool in front of me. she placed a small black notebook on the counter top in front of her. she smiled up at me.
i almost melted. she had a glimmer in her big doe eyes, and the sparkle was irresistible. her hair was tied back loosely with a black ribbon, but dark brown curls framed her face effortlessly.
she was breathtaking.
"what can i get you, darling?" i say softly and silently applaud myself for saying it cooly.
"ah, a root beer float, please." she said quietly. i watched heat rise in her cheeks and almost let out a boyish squeal.
almost.
"of course," i smiled as she looked down at her hands. she pursed her lips almost as if she wanted to say something, but i turned around anyway.
"excuse me, how much is it? i don't have much money." she said with a small sigh. my heart pulled as i turned around and looked at her. she looked up at me with tear brimmed eyes and i shook my head.
"this one's on the house, pretty girl."
