"Hey how are you?" My mom asks me on the other end of the phone.

"I'm okay, how're you ?"

"I'm alright, still recovering from your dads passing" She said, that little liar.  She married my dad and basically adopted me I guess.  I don't think she actually ever loved my dad for him, she just loved him for his money.  My real mom left me, but yea, it's confusing sometimes.

"Oh, me too" I explained.  After my dad passed away a few weeks ago, I moved to my cousins house  because I couldn't stand my 'adopted' mom.  My cousin is 20, only 4 years older than me, and he lives in his own house 3 and a half hours away from my original home.

"well I gotta go, bye" I hung up the phone.  I laid back down on the bed, sighing.  I had recurring thoughts about my dad. I miss him so much. I felt tired and I kept drifting to sleep.  I started to twirl my hair, hoping that would keep me awake for a bit longer.

"Lydia, dinner's ready" I heard my cousin yell.  I sighed once again then got up.  I put my adidas slip-on shoes on my feet then went downstairs.  Matthew (my cousin) made corn and salad for dinner.  He's a pretty healthy person compared to me.

"I hope you like corn, because I think I made a bit too much" he smiles, handing me a huge bowl.

"yea, i love corn" I said, grinning.  I didn't favor corn, but it was alright.  "thank you"

"no problem" he states, "do you have any plans for tomorrow ?"

"no I don't, why ?" I asked, taking a bite of salad from my plate.

"because my girlfriend is coming over for dinner tomorrow and I want you to meet her". He smiles.

"alright, I'll be here" I say, as I slowly finish eating.

I got a text from my friend Ari who I had recently met when I moved here.

Ari: Did you see Gayson today😂😂😂Katie tripped him in the hallway and he dropped all his belongings on the floor😂PDHAJAHA

Me: no I didn't see it.  I bet it was funny tho.  Have you talked to Ethan about taking you out to dinner  tomorrow night  ?

Ari: It was, and nope, he hasn't texted me back or anything yet.

Me: just give him some time ;)

I've been going to this school for about two weeks now and all I've learned is that Ari is a complete bully.  She picks on this kid named Grayson, for some odd reason that I don't even know.  She has a crush on Grayson's twin brother, Ethan, and they are basically like 'friends with benefits'.  You can't really say they're a couple, but you can't really say they aren't a couple.  I have to admit Ethan is pretty cute though.  He plays football with Grayson, and holy cow is he hot as fuck.

Ari: Ethan texted me back and said he was busy tomorrow :( I said maybe another night then.

I decided not to answer her because she would just drag me into all this boy drama.  Shes boy crazy....obviously.

I walk to the room where Matt is.

"Matt, do I have to wear anything special when your girlfriend comes over tomorrow ?" I ask him, as he's washing dishes

"no, don't worry about it" He says, setting a towel next to the sink.

"alright" I smile.  I know exactly what I'm gonna wear.

*fast forward to the next night*

It was 15 minutes before Matts girlfriend and family were supposed to arrive.  Matt told me not to wear anything special so I just slipped on some 'Baltimore Ravens' pajama shorts and a black short-sleeved shirt.  I brushed my hair to where it looked decent and I put on some light mascara.

"They're here!" Matt yells from downstairs.

Ari: heyyy

Me: hey, I'll talk to you later, I'm having dinner with my cousin and his girlfriend

Ari: alright, have fun boo boo

Me: I'll try

I rushed downstairs and jumped on the couch.  I checked my phone one last time before dinner.  No notifications.

I wanted to make a good first impression to his girlfriend.  I could hear them talking in the kitchen from here.  Matt was showing her what he had cooked for us for dinner.  I then heard footsteps coming my way.

"And this is my cousin, Lydia" I heard Matt say, as I sat up and turned around to greet her.

"Hi" I said, as she smiled at me.

"And Lydia this is my girlfriend Cameron." He said, as she slightly waved at me.  Matt and Cameron move to the other couch, which is across the room from me.  I could smell the food which Matt had cooked.  I wanted to see what all he fixed, so I got up and walked toward the kitchen.  I took one step in the kitchen and I felt two pairs of eyes watching me.  I turned and saw two familiar people sitting in chairs at the dining table.
