Chapter 10 - Glow

You lurked around the ship, looking at the empty cells for somewhere to hide. The ship lurched and started to ascend. You found a little corner to hide in that was dark enough so no one could see you.

"LIGHT SPEED ACHIEVED, DESTINATION . . . EARTH," the ship buzzed out of it's speakers. "10 MINUTES REMAINING UNTIL ARRIVAL."

'Why didn't we just go this fast the last time I had to stay on one of these ships?' you asked yourself in your head.

You sat in silence for a few minutes, humming to yourself and staring at your g/c gemstone.

"Search the ship," a voice in the distance said, "Experiment Q 001 might be on this vessel, and if she is, we'll bop her in the face before we hand her over to Yellow Diamond."

"Yeah!" another voice exclaimed. The voices became distant and you could hear the people's footsteps get farther away. You breathed slower, what would Yellow Diamond do if you were caught?

"EARTH IN RANGE. COMMENCING LANDING, BRACE." the ship slowly floated towards Earth. A Ruby walked past you angrily.

"I can't believe someone like Amazonite would let the experiment escape so easily!" the Ruby said to herself crossing her arms, her gem on her elbow. "It's like she doesn't even care about nothin'." Another Ruby skipped behind her, her gemstone on the back of her neck.

"I don't think it's that bad," the Ruby said with a shrug. "Why is it such a big deal anyways?"

"The experiment has connections with the crystal gems, the rebellion! If she shares information with them, then who knows what they'll do!"

"Maybe they won't care?"

"Ugh, why was I stuck with such a horrible crew."

"LANDED," the ship rattled as it came to a stop. You waited for the Rubies and all the other gems that were on the ship to get off, then you snuck away.

"Where am I?" you asked yourself aloud. You were in a forest. "I didn't watch enough Bear Grylls to survive out here."

"Well, where you trying to go?" a voice said behind you. You turned around startled, only to find a fawn.

'What the hell,' you rubbed your eyes and pinched yourself, trying to figure out if this was real.

You cleared your throat, "I want to get to Beach City."

"Ohhh..." the deer said as if it was thinking. "I have no idea where that is."

"Thanks for the help," you mumbled sarcastically. The deer flicked its ear.

"Aw, you're welcome!" the deer nodded. You started to walk away, questioning your sanity. You turned back and saw that the fawn was following you.

"Can I ask why the hell I can understand you?"

"I was gonna ask you the same question! But I assumed it was that glowy rock thing you have!" the deer said as it scratched its ear with its hind leg. The animal was right, your gem was glowing.

"Woah," you said astonished.

"Also, I'm lost. I'm just going to follow you," the fawn shrugged.

"Um. Okay, I guess some company would be nice." you smiled, petting the deer on the head. "To Beach City we go."
