Double D walked out of his house, his messenger bag slung around his shoulder as he began to walk down the street towards the high school. It was the first day back and he wasn't in the slightest bit enthusiastic. Of course he loved going to school but he hated how much everyone ridiculed him. The only thing keeping him sane at school were his two best friends, his teachers, who held him with high regard, and the fact that his education meant everything to him. Though he hated the judgment from most of his peers, he refused to give up and end it all. He knew it wasn't worth it to end his life because of a bunch of people who meant nothing to him.

As he walked he saw movement out of the corner of his eye. He looked over to see Kevin trudging his way out of his family's house. The red-head smiled at Edd as his eyes met Edd's.

Kevin and Edd had an interesting relationship going on. When he was younger, all Kevin did was bully Edd and his friends. The bullying persisted until the beginning of high school. Kevin started to mature and decided that bullying the three was pointless, plus he began to slowly grow a liking for Double D. Around the second quarter of ninth grade, Kevin began struggling and that's when he built up the courage to ask the smartest one in the Cul-De-Sac for help. Despite Edd's weariness he obliged and the two began to slowly build a friendship. After ninth grade, Kevin, Double D, and Ed had become cool with each other. Even though Double D and Ed developed a liking to Kevin, Their other friend, Eddy, still couldn't stand Kevin.

"Hey, Dork, how are today?" Kevin called as he crossed the street to walk with Edd to school.

Edd smiled at the red-head and then looked down. "Honestly, because I have to deal with your jock friends bullying me, not the greatest."

Kevin bit the bottom of his lip slightly and stared at the teen he nicknamed dork. "I'll try to get them to lay off a bit since i'm captain of the team this year. They should listen to me," he promised Edd. "By the way, where are your friends, last year every morning they would walk to school with you."

"I expect they are probably on their way. Eddy is probably figuring out what his biggest scam of the school year will be this year," Edd replied, shaking his head at the last part.

"Don't get me started, Edd!" Kevin said with venom in his voice.

The big scam last year was basically destroying the whole football teams chances of winning that year. Kevin was part of the team and was ungodly ticked off over the whole thing. Kevin grabbed Double D's shoulders and forcing Edd to look at him. Edd was caught off guard by Kevin's actions. As he stared into the red-head's eyes he gulped as Kevin had anger in his eyes.

"This year keep Eddy away from the team or else I will be extremely pissed off...if you're my friend then you'll do what you can to help me," Kevin hissed through his teeth.

"Y-yes, I'll do what I c-can," Edd stuttered in fear. He hadn't seen Kevin act this way towards him since they were in middle school and seeing him act this way now scared and upset him. "I'm sorry about the scam last year, Kevin. There wasn't much I could do."

Kevin let go of Edd and just stood there in front of him. "You're the brains of the group; you could easily have came up with something to stop him or at least let me or anyone know about what was going to happen."

Edd looked down at his converse and sighed. He knew that if he didn't deter Eddy then Kevin could go back on being Edd's friend. It wasn't so much the fact that Edd would be losing a friend, although that thought did upset him, it was more the fact that he was afraid that Kevin would resort back to the way he used to treat Edd-by pushing him into lockers and beating him up. The thought of going back to the way life used to be made a lump form in Edd's throat. He tried to stop himself from tearing up but couldn't.

Kevin could see Edd shaking and hear sobs come from his throat, which immediately made him feel guilty.

"Edd, I'm sorry, I shouldn't have been such an asshole about it."

Edd wiped his eyes on his sleeve and looked into the red-head's eyes. "Kevin, I've been dealing with this stuff from your team for years. I really don't need this right now."

Kevin wanted to punch himself in the face for making Edd cry. He didn't make him cry since early ninth grade and he hated doing it now. "Edd, I said I was sorry. I shouldn't have been so mean to you."

"What has me in such tears is the fact that if I fail at keeping Eddy away from you and your team, You'll probably resort back to the bullying that you did years ago."

The last words Edd said made Kevin wince. It stung him deep. He took a deep breath, "Edd, I won't go back to bullying you. I-"

"You say that now but what if it is extremely bad that you get so made at me?"

Kevin shook his head, "Edd, I won't do that to you again."

"Hey, Sockhead!" Someone called out in the distance.

Edd looked up to see his two friends Ed, and Eddy running up to him.

"Salutations, gentlemen!" Edd greeted as the two stopped in front of Edd and Kevin.

"Hey, Double D, I had buttered toast this morning!" Ed, the giant one, informed his brainy friend.

"That's nice, Ed," Double D replied.

Eddy noticed Kevin and was looking back and fourth between Edd and Kevin for near a minute before he narrowed his eyes and grit his teeth as he asked, "What's Shovelchin doing here?"

Kevin, who was staring at Double D, turned his attention to the short one of the group. "For your info, shorty, I was just talking to him, so shove it!"

"He's our friend, not yours!" Eddy spat. "Why don't you go hang out with your dumb blonde of a friend and her trash bag girlfriend!?"

"He's my friend too and Nazz only left you because she found out that she was a lesbian! Kevin yelled back but added with a laugh, "It's pretty sad that she fucked you and now she's not even interested in guys!"

A year ago, Eddy and Nazz had been dating until she realized she really didn't have feelings for men. Her friend Marie was a lesbian and she she confided in her about the whole situation and before you know it they quickly because a couple. Eddy was still extremely sour about the whole breakup.

"Gentlemen, please, we have to get to school! Edd hollered, getting both the boy's attention.

Kevin shrugged and readjusted his baseball cap, "Whatever , the dork's right, shorty, let's deal with this after school."

Eddy, still with fire in his eyes, reluctantly agreed and the two decided to continue the argument after school today.

Edd walked away with his two friends Ed and Eddy, leaving Kevin behind. As the three walked away, Edd glanced back at the redhead and saw him staring intently at him. His green eyes pierced into Edd's soul, making him squirm slightly. He sighed and returned his gaze back in front of him as he walked toward the school from hell.
