You're Still Our Friend

Edd woke up from his slumber the next morning to find Kevin's arms wrapped around him. He tried to wriggle out of Kevin's grasp but to no avail.

"Kevin, we need to get ready for school," Edd whispered with a yawn.

Kevin, still asleep, pulled Edd closer to him.

"Kevin!" Edd yelled.

"I'll get up in a few minutes, mommy," Kevin muttered.

Edd got up close to Kevin's ear and said, "get up or I'll be forced to slap you!!!"

Kevin began to stir from his sleep. "Okay, I'm getting up mom-EDD?!" Kevin stared in shock at Edd as the raven-haired boy stared back.

Edd quickly glanced over at the clock on the mantle-it read 8:00. "Oh my! Kevin, we are completely late to school!"

"It's not that big of a deal, dork," Kevin yawned.

Edd managed to get himself out of Kevin's grasp. "Yes, it is a big deal," he explained. "We are losing valuable education time."

Kevin huffed, "Okay,I'm getting up! I need to go get ready for school at my place and I'll meet you on the way to school."

"Okay, I'll see you then," Edd agreed as Kevin got up and stretched. Before he went ino the foyer, he gave Double D a peck on the lips, making Edd blush.

When Edd heard the front down shut, he hurried to make breakfast and get his lunch ready for school. As he ate his breakfast, he thought about the kiss he and Kevin shared. He enjoyed every minute of it. After he finished his eggs and washed his plate, he walked up to the bathroom and took a shower. As he washed his hair, he wondered if Kevin would want to make their relationship public at school.

"Are we even in a relationship?" He wondered out loud. "We did kiss so that must mean something..."

He had a complete conversation with himself for ten whole minutes until he got out and got dressed. He decided to wear a purple shirt that had a brain on it and said 'Science First,' a pair of black skinny jeans, and his converse. He slipped on his hat, grabbed his messenger bag and lunch, and ran out the door.

Outside he met up with Kevin who smiled and gave Double D a hug.

"Hey, babe," Kevin greeted him. He wore a red t-shirt with baggy blue jeans and his usual Nike sneakers.

As they began to walk to school, Edd asked, "Kevin, I have something serious to ask you."

"What?"

Edd shrugged, "does this make us a couple?"

"Do you want it to?" Kevin asked, hope in his eyes.

"Yes. Yes, I do."

Kevin beamed at Edd's words.

"I also have another question," Edd continued. "What is going to happen while we are at school?"

Kevin thought for a moment, pondering on not only what Double D asked him, but also If he wanted to really keep their relationship a secret and how it would affect Edd. Slowly, the red-head replied, "I like you a lot but for the time being, could we keep it on the down-low?"

Edd nodded knowing Kevin would say that. "Sure, Kevin!"

"Thanks, babe!" he said, kissing Edd on the cheek.

When they both arrived at school, they hurried to their classes.

Throughout the day, while Edd thought about his dreamy jock, Ryan left the nerd alone, apart from giving him dirty looks. The day seemed to be going by great even when two jocks kicked Edd's books out of his arms. When lunch came around, Edd was so excited to talk to Ed and Eddy about Kevin and himself.

As he sat down at his lunch table, he noticed Ed was slurping his gravy with a straw.

"Hey, Lumpy, you going to eat anything besides gravy?" Eddy asked sarcastically.

"But, Eddy, if I don't eat the gravy then an alien will steal it!"

"Hello, gentlemen!" Edd exclaimed as he took out his lunch he brought.

"Hey, Sockhead!"

"Could I talk to you guys about something really important?" Edd asked.

Both of Edd's friends stared intently at him as he tried to find the best way to approach this with them, especially with Eddy's hostility to Kevin.

Edd took a deep breath in, "Well, I first would like for you to promise me you won't blow this out of proportion."

Both eds nodded, "We promise."

"Okay, I'm sort of in a relationship with someone."

As Ed made an "aw" sound, Eddy raised an eyebrow. "With who?" he asked skeptically.

Edd lowered his voice to a whisper that only his friends would hear. "Kevin Barr."

"What?!" Eddy barked. "Him?!"

"Please, Eddy, lower your voice and yes with him!"

"Why?" Eddy asked as he lowered his voice to a talking level.

Edd explained to the two what had occurred last night as his friends listened. When Edd got to the part about he and Kevin kissing, Eddy made a gagging sound.

"Well, I support your choice, Double D, as long as he is not a robot trying to suck out your blood!" Ed exclaimed.

"That's a vampire, Lump-tard! Eddy rolled his eyes. "I don't support it but I will tolerate you and him being a thing. If he treats you badly, though, I'm going to beat his ass!"

"Language, Eddy!" Edd warned. "But that's all I'm asking for!"

"You're still our best friend, Double D and nothing is going to change that!" Eddy and Ed said in unison.
