The letter said:

I've missed you so much I'm sorry I couldn't be there for you your father left me because he didn't want to have you things will get harder for you in life as you move on but I'm guessing that you're 21 now aren't you? Hehe~ that's great^^ I hope that you are with someone who truly loves you despite that you're always cold... anyways I'm in for my last treatment though it didn't go successfully and the doctor said that I was going to die the day after tomorrow I know that you were very upset and I'm sorry about it I have a present for you as your 21st birthday... I found this so called heart fragments that you told me about it don't know who it belongs to but I thought I'd give it to you my dear Eiji Takashi I'll always love you you've made me the happiest mother that any woman could dream of you're so kind and caring I hope that things are going well with you I'll be watching you from above I'm sorry I won't be there but just listen to your heart and I'll always be your side for you this is farewell my beloved son... I love you so much please don't forget me and visit my grave whenever you can thank you so much for making my life the happiest years of my life I love you so much goodbye...
He was frozen and finally starts to cry "m-mother... I love you too.... I'll never forget you I'm sorry I couldn't be there with you... please forgive me..." he said and falls down to his knees holding the letter and the fragment very close to him "mother....!!!" He began to cry Akira comforts him "there there Eiji I know it hurts but it was for their own sake they chose this because they wanted to end their suffering and rest in peace" he said with a small soft sorrow smile
Eiji cried much more longer till he finally nodded in agreement "I hope so.." he said and puts the flowers on her grave and prays saying 'dear mother I hope you're doing well I found someone who loves me and that's Akira I hope that you'll be happy I actually found out I'm gay I'm sorry it might surprise you when I told you when I was younger that I wasn't gay but now I am I hope that you'll always be watching me and taking good care of me and Akira kun from now I love you...'
After they both exchanged prayers and the shrine that was not too far from the graves Eiji and Akira sat down "Akira kun I found it the very 1st heart frag-" the heart fragment itself went back into his chest "owe..." Eiji groans in pain "it looks like your heart piece is starting to slowly come back isn't it?" Akira said smiling as they both looked into each other's eyes and intertwining their hands together they kissed and then pulled away gently holding each other closely
"Yea it has returned Akira" Eiji said with a soft smile "let's find all the pieces together and finally get the human heart that I always wanted" he said as Akira nods "of course Eiji anything for you" as he got up "let's go to the cafe and grab something sweet to eat^^" he said Eiji's eyes glistened "Meow! Sweets!" He said and pounces on him like a cat and wanted to be piggybacked "hehe alright alright I'll carry you" Akira said and gave him a piggyback ride to the sweet cafe as they got in and sat down at their table they both sighed sadly
