Luke-A rumpled twenty-five year old with barely more than a trenchcoat, ramshackle apartment and ten bucks to his name.
Alice-A filthy, orphaned thirteen year old sociopath who's never asscociated with anyone other than his creepy three-legged cat.
When the latter is caught and arrested by the local police, Luke suddenly finds himself charged with caring for the youngster. Easy enough, he tells himself. So what he's barely even twice the kid's age? He can do this.
When Luke realizes that there's something odd about this boy with a girl's name, however, is uncertain. Was it when Alice set Luke's hair on fire? Or perhaps it was when the apartment exploded? No...Contrary to popular belief, the man wasn't able to come to terms with the inevitable until he was falling down a sinkhole, headed to a world preparing for the forseeable invasion, a world gone war-stricken.
