(Last chapter then on to the real book :-)
When: World War II
Setting: GermanyKatrina's P.O.V
Hi, I'm Katrina Valentine. I'm a soldier in the war. I'm currently fighting alongside the love of my life, Captain Steve Grant Rogers. Also known as Captain America, which you might already know. I'm known as Shadow Warrior. I'm called this because I only wear black, and also because when I attack, you can't see me and it's always a surprise. I was also part of the experiment that turned Steve into a Super Soldier. With the exception of me not being as muscly. Anyways, back to the present. I'm fighting back to back with Steve, and he's shouting orders. "Shadow Warrior!" I hear Steve yell. I kill the person I was fighting and look at Steve.
"Come with me," he tells me. I nod and follow him to the jet. He gets in the pilot's seat and I get in the co-pilot seat. Steve takes the jet into the air without hesitation. We were in the air above the ocean. It's below freezing outside, so the jet unfortunately and obviously starts freezing over, causing it to go haywire. "We're going down," Steve breathed out.
~(A/N) Screw Captain America, he should be Captain Obvious.~ (Merlin)
~(A/n) No way Jose don't be a hater~ (Arthur)
I look at him with worry in my eyes. He looks at me with those amazingly beautiful puppy eyes, now sad. "Katrina, if we are going to die, I can't hold it in. I-I love you. I have ever since I first met you." A million questions started racing in my mind, all in a millisecond. Why didn't he tell me before? What about Peggy? If I'm going to die, I might as well not worry about any of that.
"Steve, I lo-" I was cut off by the impact of crashing into the ice water. The second the water hit my skin, the blood in my veins and my flesh started freezing. Farther and farther we got separated, and before I knew it, all I could see was black.
70 Years Later
Steve's P.O.V
I woke up under warm blankets and with the sun shining on my face. I slowly blinked and looked around to observe my surroundings. I was in a plain white room, on a small but warm and cozy bed. There was a nightstand with a radio playing the narration of a sports game. Next to the nightstand was a window, the source of light. It looked like the room of my old apartment before what happened. Suddenly, I remembered. I remembered everything that happened before I was taken to this strange place. I remember hitting the cold water with Katrina next to me. As I sat up, a woman opened the door and calmly walked in. She smiled at me and closed the door behind her. "Good morning," she said and turned to me. She checked her wrist and walked closer to the bed I was sitting on. "Or should I say afternoon."
I stared at her in confusion and finally asked, "Where am I?" "You're in a recovery room in New York," she said patiently with a smile on her face. I took a few moments to look at her, then look at the window and finally back at her. "Where am I really?" I asked suspiciously. Something was wrong. Something was different. She smiled again, "I'm afraid I don't understand." It was her turn to look at me in confusion.
I was starting to get frustrated, and a little impatient. I looked at the radio then back at her. "The game," I stared her down. "The game is from May 1941, I know 'cause I was there." I looked at her, my emotions obviously showing on my face. Realization dawned on her face, as well as what I took as fear. I slowly stood up, making sure to intimidate her. "Now I'm going to ask you again," I took a few more steps toward her. "Where am I?"
The woman pressed a button on a gadget she held tightly in her hand. "Captain Rogers-" "Who are you?! Where is Katrina?!"The woman just stared up at me with concern. The door opened, and two armed men stepped in. I widened my eyes in alarm, but slammed them into the wall a few seconds later, causing it to easily rip open, and they fell to the floor. I hopped over them and crashed through two metal doors in front of me.
"Captain Rogers, wait!" yelled the woman. She took out a walkie talkie and called for more agents to follow me. I ran into the hallway. "KATRINA! KATRINA, WHERE ARE YOU?!" I attracted the attention of many people, all whom which started chasing me. I shoved all of them out of my way and frantically ran through the hallways yelling her name over and over.
After a few minutes of running around and avoiding agents, I finally heard her scream. I froze, chills being sent down my spine. I heard her again. "STEVE!!" I immediately started running towards her voice, which was coming from the hallway to the left. I heard a heart-wrenching sound of a head hitting metal, and then Katrina burst through the door in front of me. "Steve," she whispered. She lunged at me and attacked me with a huge hug, which I returned. She quickly unwrapped herself from my arms after a moment, and didn't waste a second grabbing my hand and running. "Let's get out of here!" she yelled while taking down more security guards.
We quickly made our way through the maze of halls, and ran out of the front doors hand in hand. We hadn't noticed that we ran straight onto the street. A car whizzed by Katrina, and she gasped as I quickly pulled her away. She didn't have time to thank me because we started running again. We came to a stop at an unfamiliar place. Everything here was unfamiliar, televisions were hanging from buildings, showing people in color and not just black and white. Weird cars were everywhere, and soon enough, a lot of weird black cars surrounded us. I started to back up, but Katrina held her ground, so I stood next to her.
"At ease, soldiers." A man with a black coat and an eyepatch climbed out of one of the black cars and stared at us. His one-eyed look was way more intimidating than any glare from a person with two eyes. He walked towards us and I started breathing heavily.
"Look, I'm sorry about that little show back there," he paused and glanced between me and Katrina. "But we thought it best to break it to you slowly." Katrina gave him a fierce glare and tensed as she spoke to him. "Break what?"
He didn't take his eyes off of us. "You've been asleep Kat and Cap. For almost seventy years."He continued to observe us with a slightly concerned look, observing our reaction. Katrina's shoulders visibly drooped and she stared around her in both awe and shock. I also did the same. Everything was just too confusing. I kept breathing heavily and turned around to take everything in. Everything is too much. Too much for me to handle. Too much information. Seventy years. Seventy years.
"Are you going to be okay?" I barely heard the bald man speak as I continued to try to process everything. "Yeah," I spoke up. Katrina was still in shock. "Yeah, I just-"I saddened at the thought of Peggy. Even if I didn't really love her, she still meant a lot to me. She meant too much to me.
"I had a date."
