You can close your eyes,

To things you don't want to see,

But you can't close your heart,

To things you don't want to feel,

And you can't close your ears,

To things you don't want to hear,

Oh, I've tried to ignore these feelings,

Oh, I've tried to ignore these words,

Oh, why won't they go away?

Just leave me alone,

I don't want to feel anymore,

Oh, I don't want to hear anymore,

Oh, God make me deaf,

So I can't hear these insults,

Allow me to only hear the soft, kind words,

Let those insults fall on deaf ears,

Let me only feel love and kindness,

Not meanness and heartbreak,

Allow me to fall in love with who I want,

Not with someone who will break me,

Oh, let me not see,

So I can't judge others looks,

Please, I don't want the pain of life any longer,

I want the relief of death,

Though I have lived but a short time,

It feels like a life time,

I'm tired of crying,

Of trying,

Please take me away from this cruel world!
