Survival Games

Saying goodbye is one of the harder things in life

Five minutes. They gave me five minutes to say goodbye to the only people who have been there in my life.

As I stood on the stage, where a few moments ago they called me for a representative, my family came to greet me.

First, my younger sister Rosie came up and I burst into tears.

"Rosie, promise me you'll take care of momma."I told her an she just nodded.

"Do good in school, don't worry about me. Okay? No matter what happens, stay strong for me and mom." We both hugged for a couple of moments until she was dragged away by my older brother, Thomas.

Thomas was 27, married with kids. He had met his wife Lora, in the woods. She is from the Nature county and there love was forbid unless he transitioned to the Nature county.

"Thomas." I smiled and hugged my older brother, he was like a father to me and Rosie. When my mother was ill, he took care of us.

"Madie, listen to me. You stay strong and don't worry about us, I will come visit Rosie and momma, I will make sure they are alright." I nodded as he told me all of this.

As long as my family was safe, I would fight to stay alive.

Finally my mother came towards me, she was a bit shaken, but I calmed her down.

"Mom. I love you" I shook, I would miss her so much, even though she hasn't been there for me.

"Fight Madison, fight for me." She said through her teeth, I could tell she was terrified by her posture.

"I love you mom." I cried as a woman dressed in all black dragged me away.

I was dragged into a tiny room, where an older woman and Dane were sitting.

"Hello Miss Deep and Mister Maggle, please be seated." The woman nodded at me and Dane.

I slowly sat down, unaware of what was going on.

She gave us a lecture of how the survival games worked and what they would expect of us.

"I am your guide in these games, I will help you with anything in return for cooperation." Her smile had an eerie feeling that made me shiver.

In the past years the Engineering and Electrical counties had won and the Nature was always 3rd place.

The woman left me and Dane to get to know each other better.

On the inside, I was pleading her to stay with me. Don't leave me alone with him.

"So, Madison. I've seen these games before, you must fight and not act like a scared little girl to win this." He smirked.

That got me angry, how dare he say that girls were weaker than guys!

"Excuse me Dane, but last year a woman won the Survival Games." I told him in the nicest way possible.

"You think you have a chance of beating the other 28 contestants? Your hunting skills will not help in this game of life." he remarked and got up and left the room.

What a jerk.

"Follow me Miss Deep and Mister Maggle." The woman dressed in all black croaked.

She led us to a ginormous, round flying thing.

"This is our Survival Blimp, the other contestants from different counties are in the other sections of our blimp." She began.

A blimp?
