Pokemon are our closest friends. But also tools of war.
Roars and cheers echoed through the coliseum from all sides. In the center, two adult men stood in the background in front of two gargantuan Pokemon. On one side, an Aggron held back two muscular arms of a Machamp. To his dismay, the Machamp had two free arms that he could use.
"Submission." The Machamp's trainer commanded. It nodded, and wrapped the two free arms around the steel behemoth's waist. Bending its muscular waist, it sent the Aggron behind him, and its head into the ground. The one on the other side smirked deviously, "Hyper Beam."
Poking its head out of the broken rubble, it began to charge a Hyper Beam. With such close range, the Pokemon couldn't get away in time, and a white and yellow beam blasted out of the Aggron's mouth, and made direct contact with its face.
The pure concentrated energy threw the Machamp yards away, and into the wall. Blood came from the back of its thick skull, and was knocked unconscious. "Captain Guam's Machamp is unable to battle. The winner is Captain Issac!" The crowd cheered as a Chansey and an Audino ran out to the field to care for the wounded Pokemon.
In the crowd of cheering fans, a small child with icy blue hair, and ecstatic green eyes looked down at the Aggron's black haired trainer, Issac. Every time he looked at the man, he felt inspired to join the war, and fight by his side.
The boy looked up in realization at the time. Before he could mutter the words to curse at his ignorance, he sprinted from the benches, and down the hundreds of steps. He maneuvered around the exiting crowd of fans, and finally got to the bottom. Noticing the front gate, he dashed towards it, and went the the stone arch.
In too much of a hurry, he headbutted a somewhat hard figure, and fell backwards almost immediately. Rubbing the newfound bruise on his head, he leered up to see the person he was expecting. "Mr. Ronan?" He muttered, staring at the middle-aged man with blonde hair. He smiled and held his hand out for the kid. "I knew I would've found you here, Ren."
Ronan helped the boy up. "I was just on my way to see you." Ren pouted, glaring at the man. He laughed slowly, "I guess you were, now, let's go. It's time for your first Pokemon."
Ren's eyes lit up like a Charmander's flame, and nodded gleefully at the request. The two walked along the streets to see everyone getting along with others and their Pokemon. The blue haired boy walked ahead of the old man at times, and even ran ahead when he saw his farm.
He always loved going to Ronan's farm. He was a military breeder that raised dozens of types of Pokemon for new recruits like himself. Before now, he would get to go to the farm to take care of the babies and others. In fact, he'd already a starter in mind for himself.
"Razor!?" He yelled, throwing open the gate, turning his head left and right, trying to find his new starter. He cupped his mouth and repeated, "Razor!?" At that moment, he saw a green gecko running on all fours towards him. The Treecko leaped onto Ren's chest, and let himself be embraced by the ten year old.
The boy laughed at the green monster in his hands, "Thanks Razor." He pulled the Treecko off of him, "Are you ready to start training?" Razor gave him an assuring nod. "Well, I guess we should get this paperwork over with." Ronan walked behind him. The two kids looked up at him in wonder. They then looked back at themselves, and nodded once more.
Their excitement didn't last long as they waited impatiently for Ronan to finish up the paperwork. He slide them the paper, and Ren wrote his name on it. In a small square, Razor dipped the tip of his paw in ink, and made a print. As he washed it off, Ronan examined the paper, placed it in a locked dresser, and nodded.
"Ren and Razor the Treecko. I hereby grant you the title of soldier in-training. You have six years to prepare yourself for war." He gave them a salute, "I hope you both grow in strength and friendship." They saluted him back, and smiled.
"Hey Razor, you ready for some training?" The Treecko nodded, and thew ran out of the house. They bolted through the back, and leaped the wooden fence to head into the forest. The forest was used to train soldiers in-training, so now it was time. Running around the gigantic trees that leaned over them, they saw a kid about his age with a Poochyena.
"Hey, do you want to battle!?" Ren asked, catching his breathe. The blonde kid smirked, "Us or Pokemon?" Ren chuckled, "Both." He smiled back, and they prepared themselves.
Ren and Razor lunged first. Ren clenched his fist, and feinted a punch for the face, but went for the chest. He threw a low sweep his way, but grabbed his shirt, and threw him back up. His fist was inches away from the blonde's. "I win." The other kid nonchalantly raised his hands to his shoulders. "Yeah yeah, so, about our pokemon?" He nodded at the boy, and the two watched their Pokemon fight.
The Poochyena tackled Razor in the stomach, but to resist flying back, he pounded the dog's chest, and flipped over to behind him. Poochyena jerked his head back, and slammed their heads together. Grabbing his neck, he leaned around and threw Poochyena on his back. With one more pound to the chest, the Poochyena was out cold.
"I guess it's 2 and 0." Razor raised an eyebrow and smirked. The blonde ran over to the fainted Poochyena, and gave him some berry juice. "Yeah, thanks for the battle. See ya around." They shook hands and parted ways.
The sun began to set on their first day, and they climbed a tall tree to watch the sky. "Hey Razor?" The Treecko cocked his head at his partner. "Let's become great soldiers, and end this stupid war." He paused at his master's words, but nodded. "It's settled, we'll train everyday and have fun doing it." He put his fist towards his Pokemon, and he placed his green hand on his in a fist pump.
From that moment on. Everything would get a hundred times harder.
