I woke up to the sound of my alarm on my iPhone. I slid my finger across the screen, turning the alarm off. I got out of bed to get ready for my first day at this school. I went to my bathroom, brushed my teeth, showered, and got dressed. Then I went to the kitchen to eat Ma's breakfast.

I said bye to Ma and left the house. I walked to the bus stop, which was only four houses down from mine. The bus arrived a few minutes later, and I said "wassup" to the bus driver.

"Hi how you doin? You new here ain't ya?" he said with a southern accent, smiling.

I nodded my head and introduced myself. "Name's Omar, but people call me Longchie because my body long."

"George," he said, shaking my hand.

I went to the back of the bus and sat down. I figured since I was on a different bus, I should sit somewhere different.

A few bus stops later, we arrived to my new school, Rosey High. Butterflies filled my stomach as the doors to my new future opened, which happened to be the doors of the bus. I said "bye" to George and slowly walked up to the double doors of the large high school.

My day was pretty chill, I met all my teachers and some of the students in my classes made an effort to talk to me. The best part of my day though, was after school. It was so great, that I missed the bus.

I was on my way to the front entrance of the school, ready to go home, when I heard loud music coming from the gym. Curious, I decided to check it out. I opened one of the doors, and saw two guys with a stereo rapping to the beat of the music. They was the same two guys I saw on the main street, when I was checkin out the neighborhood.

They nodded they heads as they took turns spittin bars, movin they hands with every word. I closed the door behind me, and stood there and watched while their rhymes filled my ears. The bass from the stereo shook the gym, and I felt like my heart beat was in sinc with the bass.

The two guys looked to be about my age. One of them was light skinned, and the other was dark skinned. They were both kind of built like me, except their bodies were more proportional.

They finally finished, and the music came to an end. I clapped my hands and they both broke their necks to see who was stalkin them. I walked over to them and introduced my self as the new guy from Detroit.

"My name Omar, but people call me Longchie because of my long body."

"They should call you Legs, cause you ain't nothin but legs nigga!" said the light skin. He and the dark skin both laughed. I forced a smiled and shook my head.

"My name Tyrese though bruh, but my stage name Trippy T," said the dark skin.

"And my name Byrin, but my stage name Stingy B," said the light skin.

"Nice to meet yall. You know I spit bars too."

Tyrese smirked. "Oh really?" He rolled his eyes gave Byrin a look. Then they nodded at each other and looked back at me.

"Rap battle," they said in unison.

Before you know it, we was goin at it. I ended up winning, and Stingy B and Trippy T was stunned.

"Bruh you somethin else!" Stingy said smiling.

The three of us walked out the school together, laughing and talking like we known each other all our lives. We got out and realized no one was at the bus stop. We looked at each other as if one of us knew what we should do.

"Man, the next bus don't come for another hour," I said putting my hand on my fore head. It was humid outside, so sweat was slowly running down my forehead.

We all decided on walking to the nearest McDonald's, and ordered some iced sweet teas that we sipped on while we waited for the next bus. It wasn't all that bad, because we got to know each other, well they got to know me and I got to know them. We all laughed and talked about what we wanted to do about our lives.

"Well I want to be a famous rapper. I can see me now, on stage, in front of all my millions of fans, it's gon be so lit bruh. Think I'm playin," Tyrese said, playfully smacking Byrin on the arm.

I shook my head, smiling. "I feel it though. That would be nice." I frowned at the thought of Pa trying to come back into my life after I had became rich and famous.

"What, you don't think it could happen or sum?" said Byrin.

"Huh?" I said.

"You frownin, like it would be impossible."

"Nah my nigga, it ain't that. I just thought about Pa tryna come back into my life after I had become rich and famous."

"Aw well nigga that's bound to happen, but all you gots to do is tell him like this, 'You up and left me remember? So you don't get none of this moolah, only Ma do'."

The three of us laughed and talked some more about our future careers as rappers. Then we decided we should be a group. It took us a lil minute to think of a name, but we came up with Dope Money (DM). I have no idea why we exactly chose that, since none of us slingin dope, but it had a nice sound to it.

It was almost time for the bus to come, so we headed out the restaurant, and to the bus stop. We all got on the bus and got off at our individual stops. I walked four houses down, til I got to mines, and went inside. Ma was sitting at the dinner table, eating lasagna.

"Hey Ma, what's with the lasagna?"

"Wanted to try something new," she said without looking at me.

"Oh okay." I walked over to her and kissed her forehead. "Is it good Ma?"

"Mhm. So where was you?"

"With these two guys I met today. We missed the bus because we had a rap battle, so we went to McDonald's and waited on it there. They so chill Ma. I got to know em and everythin."

She had finished her food, so she stood up and put her dishes in the dishwasher. "Well a heads up would've been nice Omar. Remember to let me know where you are next time. You know where we live. Had me thinking somethin happened to you." She left and went to her own bedroom.

I went to my room and ate the lasagna. I finished eating, and did my homework, and finally finished that too, a couple hours later. I went to sleep and dreamt about myself rappin with Trippy and Stingy. A great way to end my first day at school.
