Chapter 4
The tugging didn’t feel like it would stop anytime soon, and my clutching onto the arms carrying me wasn’t helping it at all. I felt like a piece of meat so I opened my eyes out of irritation. I wish I hadn’t. Looking down at me was a pair of rusty red eyes.
Looking to my side wasn’t any better. There was the guy that had caused my death in the first place holding onto my arm trying to free me from my captor. I really didn’t want to see either of these people, and plus wasn’t I just in the waiting room? How did I get back on earth if that’s where I am. I looked around. Yep definably earth.
Surrounding me was a chaos of yellow tape, yelling people, and an ambulance with flashing lights. I did the only thing I could think of. I sucked in a deep breath and screamed a girly ear-piercing scream.
The man was surprised and dropped me. Getting up off the street pavement I started to run. Hands caught me from behind.
“Let me go!” I panicked thinking it was the man from the place with the floating orbs.
“No.” He whispered into my ear. I stopped struggling. “Ans you’re making a commotion and if you scream like that again people are going to notice us.”
“Alright Khalon I wont scream again.” Emotions were running through my body like rampant little monsters. What was I doing here? Was that all just a dream? Did I not meet sweet little Renae and somewhat bossy Harachel?
My words only came out merely as a whisper. “I’m confused.”
He let go of my middle and gently took my hand as if I was a glass doll that could break at any moment. To tell the truth I kind of really felt like a glass doll.
“Don’t worry I’ll explain everything when we get somewhere safe.” I nodded my head saying “okay”.
“Stein come here.” Khalon barked at the man. I started shaking, I definitely did not like that man, but Khalon seemed to trust him. The man, his name must be Stein, appeared in behind us like he had done in the place with the floating orbs. Creepy man.
We were about to leave when I saw something that I wished I hadn’t. The place where the car must have hit me was surrounded by the yellow tape the police use on crime scenes. There were tons of flashing lights from the police cars and ambulances. Men were crowding around a certain spot in front of the offending car.
That wasn’t what disturbed me though. It was the girl lying on the ground surrounded by all those police officers. She was covered in blood. Everywhere was bloody even her long brown hair. She looked familiar, maybe a classmate or something. Realization hit me like an out of control car. She was familiar cause I had been looking at her in the mirror my whole life.
That was my body lying there covered in blood! But that couldn’t be possible because I was standing right here. Breathing, talking, and not being dead. I was so confused, and dizzy. Things started to go blurry and for the second time I fainted.
I was being carried again I could feel it. I wearily opened my eyes hoping that I wouldn’t be holding onto that Stein man. Thank God I wasn’t. I was on Khalon’s back, my arms grasped around his neck.
I better have an explanation of things when we get to wherever we are going. I pretended that I was still blacked out. I didn’t want to talk to Khalon with my emotions all random like.
We stopped in front of Khalon’s house. It was a big red thing with glistening windows and a shiny brass doorknob. Compared to the place I live, uh lived, it looks like a mansion. Inside was a spacious as the outside. It had many rooms as far as I could tell and it was spotless. Khalon walked down some stairs and opened a door that lead to his room.
