Chapter 8

A week later
"Alright pack we were invited to a ball for all the surrounding packs tonight." Everyone lets out a cheer. "We leave at 5." I hear everyone walk off talking about how excited they are. I smile and get off the couch. "Where are you going?" Avi asks. "To find Esther." "Ok, I think she went up to her room. Be careful and call me if you need help." "I will." I walk towards the stairs while trying to remember where everything is at. When I finally reach  them I carefully head upstairs. Thankfully right as I got to the top Esther was waiting for me. "How did you know I was looking for you?" I ask. "Avi told me you were on your way up. So what did you need?" "Will you help me get ready?" She squeals. "Of course!" She pulls my arm and leads me into what smells like her room.

After over 3 hours of torcher she tells me my hair is curled and  make up is done. "Now to find you a dress." I hear her walk away and then some shuffling. "Rose gold or silver?" She asks. "um. I guess rose gold. It sounds pretty." I yell back. "Ok. I found the perfect dress." I stand up and she helps me slip on the dress. I hear Esther gasp. "You look beautiful!" She squeals. I smile. "Thanks." "Ok, well I'm going to get dressed real quick then we can head downstairs. Darrien just linked me and said that people are starting to load up in the cars." I hear her walk away then a few minutes later she comes in. "I almost forget your mask." I feel her place something on my face then tie it. "Now we're ready." She grabs my hand and leads me out into the hallway where I smell Avi. "You look beautiful." He says. I blush. "Thank you." He takes my hand and we head out to the cars.

"We're here!" Esther squeals. I hear her open the door and feel a cool breeze flow into the car. I shiver slightly before carefully climbing out. "You ready Beautiful?" I nod and feel him take my hand. "So tonight every pack in this state and neighboring states are here. That means there are about 15 packs." Avi explains. I slowly nod and feel him kiss the top of my head. "Don't worry I will be with you the whole time." "Ok." I feel it temperature change, I guess we made it inside. "Introducing Alpha Avi and Luna Kirstie from the pack Harmony." Some one yells. I jump a little but quickly compose myself so I don't embarrass myself. "Ok, we're going down a big staircase with small steps. You got it?" Avi asks. "I think so. Just help me with the first few steps." "Ok. Step....... next one..........again." I giggle a little before telling him I've got it now just to let me know when I'm on the last one.  "Last one." I step down off the step and mentally smile. Avi leads us to my left and I hear someone call his name. "Hey Avi, long time no see." "Hey Ben." Avi lets go of my hand for a minute before grabbing it again. "Ben I would like you to meet my mate  Kirstie. Kirstie this is my childhood best friend." Just like when I met his family the first time there is an awkward silence. "Well are you going to shake his hand or be disrespectful?" Some girl asks. I instantly feel bad. "I'm sorry. Avi where is his hand?" I whisper with me head down so Ben doesn't hear me. Avi place my hand in Ben's and I shake it. "I wasn't trying to be disrespectful." I tell Ben. "It's alright. I don't know why Jessica thought she could talk to a Luna like that." "She isn't your mate?" Avi asks. "No, my mate is talking with the other Luna's. Why don't you go talk to them, Kirstie?" "I need to stay with Avi, sir." "I'm sure he wouldn't mind if you went would you Avi?" "Actually I would rather have Kirstie near me." "Oh, ok." They continue talking while I quietly stand there. Just then I hear a girl start talking from behind me. "Avi! It's so good to see you!" She practically yell. I jump and end up trip over my dress. Thankfully before I hit the ground someone catches me. By the tingles I'm feeling it was Avi. "Are you ok, Kit?" He asks. "Yeah I'm fine." I say embarrassed. "I am so sorry! I didn't mean to scare you." She says. "It's alright. It was an accident." I say in the direction of the voice. Avi turns me a little and I hear the girl gasp. "Your eyes, they're amazing." "Thank you......" "Oh where are my manners, my name is Taylor. I'm Ben's mate." "Well Taylor my name is Kirstie." "It's nice to meet you Kirstie." This time there is no pause we just keep talking.

A little while I hear the question I've been dreading. "Why don't you ever look at me when you talk? I promise I'm not trying to be rude. I'm just curious." Taylor says. I sigh. "I was blinded in a rouge attack on my pack." I tell her. "Oh, ok. So how did you like the Harmony pack?"  She asks while acting like I didn't just tell her I was blind. "Why aren't you making a big deal like everyone else I know? Not that I want you too. I love that you didn't react badly." I tell her. "Because I see no reason in making a big deal. So what if your blind. That doesn't how effect your friendship with me." "You think of me as your friend?" "Of course I do! Do you not think of me as your friend?" "I do, it's just I only have Avi's sisters as friends." "Well, now you've got yourself a bestie for life." I laugh. "Ok." "So what do you like to do?" "I love singing." I tell her. "Really! Well I think you should go sing on stage. They've been letting people sing." Taylor says. "I don't know..." "Come on Kit. You'll do amazing." Avi says from behind me. "Fine. I'll do it. Help me to the stage." Avi takes my hand and leads me away. "What song are you going to do?" He asks. "This song called 'Say the world'." "Ok, stairs." He helps me up them then stops me. "Ok, mics in front of you. Let me got tell the DJ." I nod and wait till I hear the music.

I finish and hear the room explode in applause. I smile and Avi leads me back over to Ben and Taylor.  "You were amazing!" Taylor squeals. "Thank you." For the rest of the night we enjoy talking and by the end of the night I am exhausted.
