Jake: It's Jake Miles here, and you're listening to 109.3 NYR! Today we have Melanie and Eric Clapton. This is Melanie's first interview ever. Thanks for being on the show.

Melanie: Thank you for having us.

Eric: It's great to be here."

Jake: So what made you come and join the spot light, like your father? Now you're a world famous photographer and everyone wants to hire you. So how did you come up with the idea of being a photoographer?

Melanie: Well- I was his number one fan growing up. I loved music, but it wasn't something I wanted to do for a living. I mostly just sang for fun, or whenever my dad invited me on tour we would usally do one song together. I wanted to do something else. Be a teacher. Or something. A passion of mine was taking pictures. I took pictures at- Ringo Starr's wedding, when he married Barbara Bach. I did that one for free because it was a hobby. They still payed me even after. Then when people saw how the pictures came out I was hired with pay. So I became a professional photographer.

Jake: Eric, how did you react when she decided that that's what she wanted to do?

Eric: Of course I supported her. She was very good at it. She gets better. I was glad it was a more reserved profession rather than joining the music business or going to Hollywood. Which she was consideing at one point.

Jake: You? Hollywood? No.

Melanie: It's true. I wanted to go and I wanted to act, but I saw what happened to Princess Di with the paparazzi and I didn't ever want to live with that. Or have to go through that.

Jake: Wow. So when do you think the world went "crap! Eric Clapton has a daughter!?"?

Eric: When Mel was ten. We sang "Tears in Haven". Before that there were two reporter who knew about her. They knew about Layla. And her death.

Jake: Do you remember your mom?

Melanie: I remember, not a lot, but some. She and my dad used to dance in our living room. And I would fall asleep on the couch and my dad would carry my to my room. They would both tuck me in. Those were the days.

Jake: That's all the time we have today. Thanks for being here.

Melanie: It was fun.

Eric: Can't wait for next time.

Melanie and Eric: We're the Claptons and you're listening to 109.3 NYR.
