"There was a time, when I was alone."
-Ruth B., Lost Boy*********************************
She walks through the noisy halls, books tightly clutched to her chest. A few students stare and she bites her lip, dropping her gaze to the floor. She tugs her cardigan closer to her petite frame, suddenly feeling small in the sea of faces. She's almost to her locker when a foot juts out, sending her tumbling to the ground.
Her books are sprawled all around her, and she sighs. Despite the sounds of laughter, she looks up trying to spot the idiot who had tripped her. Instead, her eyes meet a pair of familiar crustacean blue ones.
He extends his hand, that faint smile on his pink, plump lips. Her cheeks heat in embarrassment. Reluctantly, she grabs it and she's pulled up. They grab her books, and it's then that she notices the laughing has stopped.
Everyone is staring with curiosity, envy, or amusement written on their faces. She snaps her worried gaze back to him. He once again extends his hand and she grabs it. His hand is warm and soft in her own, and she relaxes. She looks into his reassuring gaze and nods. Multiple eyes burn holes into her back as he pulls her towards the school exit.
A/N: I hope you enjoyed the prologue! Not every chapter will be in third person, just the prologue. Comment and vote please! It means a lot to me. :)
