This story is not entirely satisfying unless you read Legends of Heretrua: Rulers of Light. Okay, I'll admit, it's mostly just downright sad. Most of the loose ends left in this story are tied up in Rulers of Light, since Children of Light was an idea that spouted off of that book.
Genneviera is based on my ten year old sister. Since she didn't get a whole lot of focus in Rulers of Light, I wanted to explore her character a bit more somehow, and this story became the means of doing that. As I got to know Genne better, she introduced me to her friends, and Aldyth and Rosalie soon began to tell their stories as well.
Though Genne was wounded badly by Philomena, she was not killed. Evelyn took Genne to heart and after she healed she became one of Evelyn's personal maids, and her best friend. Rosalie also got a position as one of Evelyn's maids. She and Genne had a blast being together all the time, and could comfort each other in their new lives.
Ren was true to his word, and Aldyth's whole family got to serve in the palace. Of course, Rosalie loved living in the same building as Ty, and he was friendly to her when their paths crossed. They had a fond friendship, and although he didn't return her affections he treated her like gold and made her life a little brighter.
And Genne... her life was all the brighter. Sure, she had experienced loss, but she had also experienced joy and great gain. This little firework has a big future ahead of her.
Just you wait and see.
