Chapter 2: Welcome to Central (Part 1)

Andy looked up at the sign hanging on the wall. ‘Welcome back!’ it was painted in red and hung right at the entrance. She remained where she was as she looked around her. Her hair was slightly curled and loose around her shoulders. Last night she added light brown streaks to the her hair, to make her seem more ‘teenagerish’. There were students laughing and smiling with each other, making conversation to pass the time. She looked at her watch. 8:10. 15 minutes until the bell rung.

Are you just goanna stand there like an idiot?’ She heard his mocking tone. Not wanting to attract attention to herself she started up the stairs, not making any type of face.

Shut it! I can’t believe I’m actually doing this!’ She heard laughing.

You’ll be fine; you’ve been preparing all night! You know your schedule of by heart, the names of all your teachers, and because of me, all the students in your classes. You have no reason to be scared. Of course you are starting high school, so you can be scared.’ Andy scowled.

I am not scared!’ She found her locker and opened it up. There was nothing in it. She had all her books in the backpack hanging from her shoulder. She looked around the hallway. They all looked so happy to be here. Why? That was her one question. She would’ve rather gone to Africa again, and taken down one of their gang leaders, instead of doing this.

Just be happy it’s right after March break, instead of the middle of the semester!’ Andy could hear how much he was trying.

Does it make a difference? It’s still the middle of the semester!’ She finished putting her not needed books in her locker, along with her bag and sweater, and then shut the door.

Ya I guess…’ She smiled.

Okay Chris, lead me to my first class!’ She heard him about to start when she was thrown into the locker next to hers, someone colliding with her body. Her spy instincts immediately took over as she grabbed the arm of the person and swapped places with him, pressing his body against the locker – not so gently. She didn’t let go until she heard the boy she was holding spoke.

“Sorry! Sorry! It was an accident! Can you let me go?” She released his arm and stepped back. He turned towards her and her heart almost stopped.

He had light brown hair that was partially covered by a red baseball cap. His eyes were a bright green that looked like a field of grass. He was wearing a white shirt and jeans, with a black sweater overtop. She looked at the two guys around him. One had light skin, blonde hair and green eyes, which was wearing a ‘KISS ME’ shirt. The other had darker skin and was wearing a blue shirt and sweater, and deep brown eyes. She looked back to the one who she slammed into the locker.

“Uh, Sorry.” She bent down to grab her fallen books, when another pair of hands grabbed them first. She stood up with her book thief. He handed her the books.

“I should say sorry, those idiots shoved me, so uh, sorry for hitting you.” She nodded thanks, then turned and started to walk away.

Well that was nice.’ She could hear the sarcasm in Chris’s voice. She forgot he could now hear everything she heard due to an invisible earpiece. She sighed.

I’m not here to make a mark! Or get myself noticed, I-‘ Her thought was interrupted.

Wait up!” She stopped and turned to see the same guy walking up towards her.

“You’re new here, right?” She nodded. He smiled; to her his smile was gorgeous. Like the sun had just come out after years of darkness.

“My names Ryan Connors welcome to Central High!” Andy froze. Connors. His last name was Connors, and her cover name was Connors. She gulped.
