"Maddy, do you even believe that we have just had dinner with Lashton?"  I ask as we  leave the hotel.

"Yes, Haley, can you just take a second to think about the fact that Ashton gave me is freaking phone number?" She asks quietly, because at the same time we are passing by all the fans, who are still waiting on the side of the street.

"Maddy. Luke said that Calum might like me, if I wasn't a fan," I say quietly. Inside, I am definitely uneasy.

"Well, it's obvious. You guys like the same music, and you're fucking beautiful. There's like no way he wouldn't be into you. You guys are probably even a good height for each other."

I grab Maddy's hand and stood up tall so that we were face to face, so that she could look into my eyes. "What?" She asks. I look at her meaningfully. " I can't read your f-king mind, just tell me what the hell you're thinking.

"Calum might like me, but if I wasn't a fan. We met only Lashton today," I repeat.

"Yeah...?"

"Oh my god, you don't get what I'm trying to tell you. Stay here for a sec and watch."  I leave Maddy and take a few steps towards some of the fans that we didn't know, one with a poster. "Hey, what are you guys here for?" I ask, giving her my best puzzled look.

"It's a band that we like, I don't know if you've heard of them but probably not," she says, pointing to her poster.

I try not to laugh at myself for what I'm about to do. "What is 5 es oh es?" I ask, making sure to say out the letters instead of saying 'sauce' like people are supposed to.

This girl looks like she doesn't know whether to feel sympathetic or to laugh at me with all of her friends. "It's pronounced like 5 sauce," she laughs. "They're from Australia."

"Okay, well, thank you," I smile and walk back to Maddy.

She roars with laughter when I reach her again. "That was great," she says in between fits of her giggles.

I try to keep a calm face, even though it was pretty funny. "Calum doesn't know that I'm a fan."

"Do you really think you can pretend that you don't know who they are the next time we see them? During dinner, you couldn't stop shaking."

"That was partially because of the coffee. Come on, pretend to be Calum," I turned away from her to the other side, and then patted her on the shoulder. "Hey, could you take a picture of me and my friend?" I ask her, pretending to hand her my phone.

Maddie forges bad Australian accent and said: "Of course, mate."

"Oooo wow, what kind of accent is that?" I fake, while simultaneously pulling down my dress a little to show some more cleavage.

"Australian," Maddy laughs. "Dude, do you really think something like that would actually work?"

"I think it's worth a try," I shrug. "Maddy, in 30 years, don't you want a great story to tell your grandkids? Either way this goes, it'll be great. You could either tell a fairy tale to yours and Calum's grandkids, or we can look back on how stupid this idea was and laugh about it for the rest of our lives." We reach the bus stop by then. The rain had stopped but the streets are still wet and are shining with the reflection of the street lights.

"I mean, I guess. And Ash said he would love to hang out again, so it might work...But Calum and Michael will be confused about how we already know half of the band..."

"Well we will have to do it on a day when Luke and Ashton are out. So Calum might be with Michael. So we can start with a fresh slate." Maddy looks at me thoughtfully, so I continue to talk so she can't back out of it. "And of course we need to buy some sexy outfits, so we don't look like a bunch of fan girls. Maybe we can get fake IDs so we can hang out at the bar in the hotel? We could just book a room at that point," I go on.

"Are you sure this is what you want to spend your savings on instead of, I don't know, college? Your future?" Maddy asks me, trying to keep eye contact; she always knows when I'm lying.

"This is my future, Maddy. Our future. I'll buy you an outfit too, and maybe you can have a thing with both Michael and Ashton, because why not?" I keep the eye contact and add on some puppy eyes.

Maddy sighs deeply, and I know that I've gotten my way, and at least we will get a legitimate shot at this. "I'll text Ashton and see what his plans are tomorrow," she starts, and while she's on her phone I scroll through my twitter, only to realize how fangirl it is. I consider redoing everything, but eventually just decide to start and remake a whole new twitter.

"So he says that he and Luke are recording at Feldys tomorrow, so I gotta admit this is the perfect time. But how do you think we can get fake IDs this fast? And when are we gonna have time to go shopping..." Maddy starts saying, while taking a seat on the bus stop's bench and rests her head in her hands, stressed out.

"Calm down, you're the confident one," I remind her, sitting down next to her on the bench. "Plus, we're in Hollywood. Anything is possible."

By the end of the evening, we somehow obtain some fake IDs, that were so obviously fake that I hoped we wouldn't get caught with them. My new name was Lily Flower, and I'm from Canada.

We also decide to get rooms at the hotel for two nights, and we shop first thing in the morning.

I lay in a hotel bed in the smack middle of Hollywood, staring out the window at the lit up streets, people still out and about, wearing fancy clothes, driving nice cars, smiling their perfect smiles.

Maddy lies on the other bed, smiling up at her phone, texting back and fourth with only I can assume to be Ashton.

For the first time in my life, I close my eyes and pray; I pray that things will go perfect tomorrow, and I pray that God won't hate me so much for lying.
