Nine Years Later...

"No cavities, I see someone has been taking care of their teeth." I told Hailey, my final patient of the day.

"Yup, just like you told me." She said proudly.

"That's right. You want a sticker?" I asked.

She nodded her head vigorously in excitement. I placed three stickers in her bag and handed it to her.

"Thank you." She grabbed onto her moms hand and left.

Now for my favorite part of the day. Going home.

I sat in my car waiting for Hunter to walk out of the school. I watched him come outside with a girl and kiss her cheek before getting in the car.

"Hey, ma." He said happily.

"Who's the girl?" I smirked.

"Dana, my girlfriend." He cheesed.

"Really? When do I get to meet her?"

"Never." He attempted to mumble under his breath, but failed.

"Why not? You think I'm going to embarrass you?" I reached over to pinch his cheeks.

He laughed while pushing my hand away, "Yes."

"I promise I won't." I laughed along with him as I pulled in front of Rosaline's school.

She ran all the way to the car with a bunch of papers in her hand.

"Hey, Rosie Posie." Hunter greeted her when she got into the car.

"Hi, Hunny Bunny." She giggled.

"What you got there?" I looked at the stack of papers in her hand.

"Softball, track, basketball, and cheerleading." She held up each packet.

"You can't do all of that." I told her.

"Never say can't, mommy. I already made every team, you just have to pay." She smiled innocently. Playing a sport isn't cheap and I wasn't going to pay all of that money.

An athletic child isn't cheap at all.

"Pick two."

She huffed, "Fine, I'll do softball and cheerleading. Even though cheerleading isn't a real sport, I'll try something new."

I knew she wasn't going to give up softball, she's been playing for three years now. This will be her first year in minor league.

"We have exactly one hour before the basketball comes on. Miami Heat is going against the Lakers." Rosaline said.

"Miami Heat is going to lose." Hunter told her.

"Nu uh! Miami Heat has had only thirty-four losses this season while the Lakers had sixty-seven! Demirti Carter is the Miami Heat." She argued.

Hunter rolled his eyes at the mentioning of Demitri's name. Sophmore year Demitri broke up with me because he wanted to be free. He was getting drafted next year and that meant more groupies throwing themselves at him. A lot more temptation than college basketball.
