Rose POVI've been sitting in the waiting room for almost 3 hours while the person who's responsible for this whole thing was home probably sleeping!!
I forced my eyes open refusing to sleep without being given a resolution from what had just happened.
I was told that Vincent and his friends were drunk and thought it'd be funny to demolish someone's house. What kind of a person does that??Apparently they were walking around the neighborhood messing with other people's houses until they saw the bulldozer and decided to test it out on my house!
After being told that, I was told to stay here and ever since, I've been waiting for them to finish discussing the punishment for all three of them since they were getting bail in less than 24 hours which is really pissing me off! I guess it pays to be rich after all.I've been sitting here fighting off the urge to sleep while they get to go home! I mean what sort of justice is that?? What angers me the most is that one of them is at home right now enjoying his freedom while I'm still stuck here, where he should be!
I heard footsteps getting closer and looked up to see Vincent's father who's name was Richard walk in the waiting room approaching me.
I stood up immediately meeting him half way."Ms Pierce we have come to an arrangement and if you agree, then everything will be set right I promise you." He informs me.
I raise my eyebrows. "What arrangement?"
"If you don't press charges against my son, we will provide you a home to live in as well as money to reimburse you with the damage of your house and of course your belongings." He explains. "And I heard you're struggling with money for your tuition so I will personally provide you with a free full scholarship."
I stare at him blankly. Wow. That's...that's actually not so bad. I guess it really does pay to be rich! I mean he must be really rich is he's willing to offer me that much. How did he even know I was struggling with my tuition fee?
"Where am I going to live?" I ask the most important question.
"You will be released to our custody in my home since my son was the ring leader who caused this commotion." He says.
Live in his house?? He wants me to stay in a house with him, his wife and Vincent?!? Is he being serious?!?
"But your son..." I started to say but didn't exactly know how to form my words into a sentence.
I wanted to tell him there was no way I was going to stay under the same roof as Vincent. I'd rather sleep on the streets than be forced to see his face and put up with his rude attitude every single day.
"You don't have to worry about him, he's never home. I only see him at time likes these as you can imagine. He usually stays with one of his friends so don't worry about him. You will stay with my wife and my younger son until we find you somewhere else to live in." He tells me. "Or if you would prefer, we can arrange a dormitory for you at campus." He adds.
I cringe at the word dormitory.
Ugh! I was there for two months of my first year here and I hated it!
The bathrooms were coed so the only thing separating the bathroom showers from the boys and girls was a thin shower curtain, which nobody really used. Everyone seemed fine with it, everyone except me.
I had to wake up extra early just to avoid seeing anything I didn't want to see in that bathroom just so I could shower properly.
I am not going back there! I sigh to myself in defeat.
I'm sure it wouldn't be so bad living at his house. I would barely be home, or at least I would try and I'll probably lock myself in a room they provide me with.I tried to hide my face when I finally nod in agreement. He seemed like a nice guy and as long as he can keep his word that Vincent won't be coming anywhere near the house and me then I should be fine. Besides, I really have no where else to go.
