We sat and talked for a while and sooner than we knew it the silhouette of Hogwarts could be seen in the distance. After a few minutes the train came to a stop and we all clambered out, grabbing our trunks as we went. Our little group split up and climbed in to the boats. Me and Draco in one, Pansy and
Blaise, Astoria and Theo and Hermione and Adam in the others. A little ahead of us the half giant Hagrid led the way. As we pushed past the curtain of vines hanging from the cliff we caught our first glimpse of Hogwarts.
Once we had gotten to land once more Hagrid led us up some stairs to a door where an old woman in an emerald cloak was waiting for us. She told us that on the other side of the doors was the sorting hat and that it would be placed on our head to sort us into our house. After explaining all of this to us she left to go check up on something and left us standing around in the corridor very awkwardly. Eventually Draco went up to Harry Potter and introduced himself however Potter was incredibly rude to Draco so he gave up and instead came to talk to us.
After a few more minutes the old woman came back and told us that it was time for the sorting. With that said she waved her wand and the grand doors flew open revealing a huge hall. The ceiling was enchanted to look like the night sky and magical candles were floating around. There were four long tables with different colored banners above them. At the front the witch from earlier was standing next to a stool with a battered looking hat on it. Behind her was a table where all the staff were seated.
